How the market's set-up? No, it's because he has mostly heavy crude, with isn't easily refined.
But still, since we're his number 1 enemy he should sell his oil elsewhere.
And as for his bills, too bad.. His oil production has dropped dramatically since he threw out the Western Oil Companies. BTW just to prove what a hypocrite he is last year when the price of oil tanked he went running to those very same Western Oil Companies to ask for their help to boast his oil production.. |
Actually the oil companies were purposefully cutting down production in Venezuela as a covert tactic of artificial shortages - after basically raping the country of its natural oil reserves for decades through shady deals. Let's spare the sympathy.

If he didn't sell us his oil, I would take his constant rhetoric about how evil the US is, etc. more seriously..
Unless one is a terrible phony and hypocrite you don't sell someone who is your enemy such an important commodity as oil, do you? LOL..
Of course you don't. He's an attention w**** who's screwed up his country so badly that to keep his people in line and hold onto power he needs a daily bogeyman. |
Or Chavez is just a pragmatist who realizes you can't simply divert oil resources without creating a catastrophic backlash, both politically and economically. Venezuela, like Iran, relies heavily on natural gas extraction, but in terms of refining capacities, it's dependent on the United States due to how American corporations stack up the developing world for their own benefit.
In fact since 2002 Venezuela has invested heavily in technologies not related to natural gas so that its economy will be restructured in the future (in addition to brokering deals with Russia and China to cut down on reliance with American markets), so I'm calling out your claim of hypocrisy as entirely misinformed.

So in 7 years he still can't find another customer?!? As you may well know there are plenty of customers for oil on the world market.. PLENTY! Yet he STILL sells his oil to his great enemy, the US...
I'm sticking with hypocrite..

You mean the Oil Companies that CHAVEZ nationalized purposely cut back on production? If that is true then you're right, Chavez deserves no sympathy..
But anyway I don't care what the 'reason' was. The fact is over the years his oil companies production has continually dropped, to the point that last year he had to ask the very same Western Oil companies he threw out for help in raising production..
That too sounds quite hypocritical to me..
