Condoleezza Rice for President of the European Union.
Condoleezza Rice, the former US Secretary of State under President Bush would have made a great president of the USA and still may do, perhaps if she runs in 2012 but until then we Europeans should give Condi a wee shot of being President of Europe. If she is elected US president, she can decide if she wants to be president of both the EU and the USA or just the USA.
Condi's the one who thinks we're still in the Cold War, isn't she?

Discussion point - Can an American become the President of Europe?
Why not?
Europe does not have closed borders - no-one has set up a new iron curtain have they? People come from all over the world to study and to work in Europe. I have Indians living to my left, right and above me and most welcome they are.
If you have skills anywhere in the world, Europe has a job for you - this is true in the private and public sectors, so what's the problem?
It would be stupid and self-harming not to hire the best in the world for Europe's MOST important job, president of the EU and Condi is the best, so hire her.
How hard can it be to make Rice a citizen of a EU member country if that was the rule? After they captured him in WW2, the Americans made Wernher von Braun the German rocket scientist (who was working for Hitler trying to bomb us all to hell) an American citizen didn't they, and so got to the moon? So what matters is if the foreigner has the skills that your union needs.
Citizenships can be granted if required I suppose.
There is supposed to be a new EU constitution - I think they call it "the Lisbon Treaty" or something. Has anyone here read it? I have not but The Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union looks good and I didn't see anything in there about "Americans not welcome".
I know the US constitution says you need to have been born in the USA to become president, though not to be elected a state governor. Well Europe should improve upon that rule.
Em OK I see Political Crossfire Forums is struggling with coming up a serious argument against Condi for Prez so here is what happens when a Euro-enthusiast takes me on in this debate in a EU forum.
Nice joke - and I see your point. Why not have Bush as EU Foreign Minister?
Condoleezza Rice is not just any old Bush appointee, nor even just the best of Bush's appointees but rather she is a uniquely talented and exceptional world leader and the world is the poorer for her less prominent role in world affairs since leaving her Secretary of State job. The Americans have dropped the ball so now there could be an opportunity for Europeans to take up world leadership by bringing Condi back to the top tables of world affairs.
Europeans - use the new instruments and institutions of ToL to emancipate yourselves from the old Atlanticist, US-led, NATO order. The Berlin wall has been down for 20 years now - and its time for Europe to be its own actor on the international stage. It is time for you all to think of a future without American hegemony!
NOPE - no Atlanticist, Americanist, or former NATO SecGen - or anybody associated with the old Atlantic system - should be in a European office.!
Old order? Well let's just remember Saddam Hussein's old order of Iraq as blessed by George Galloway
Now I have had a quick look at the home page of your yellow stars website Europhile American and if you really want the yellow stars to rule the world then you are going to need to put the world's best leader in front of those yellow stars speaking for them as President of the European Union.
Condoleezza Rice was the Soviet specialist advisor to President Bush (Snr) at the time of the coming down of the Berlin Wall etc.
So I have the right person.
Worthless character.

Condoleezza Rice for President OF THE EUROPEAN UNION!
Rompuy is in charge of the European Union and all of us Europeans and King Albert is in charge of Rompuy so that makes all Europeans subjects of Albert, doesn't it?
How do you remove a King again? Let me see, you DON'T get a vote, I remember that .. history tells us ... ah yes!
We could just cut Albert's head off if the French will provide a suitable guillotine?
Or shoot Albert in a cellar Russian-style?
What about poison, a handgun and a can of petrol, Hitler-style?
I am beginning to like this new King of Europe already!
A tad rusty no doubt but Excalibur makes a much awaited reappearance on to the political scene after an absence of nearly 15 centuries of being lost.
So who is the wielder of King Arthur's sword which unites power and justice in one hand? Why none other than Condoleezza Rice, the former Secretary of State under President George Bush.
So it seems the sword has arisen just in time to support Condi's bid for President of the European Union.
Well Perceval would have been pleased! He was perhaps at bit doubtful there for a while until King Arthur reassured him that "one day, the sword will rise again". Indeed it did Arthur and not before time.
What King Arthur perhaps couldn't foresee is the gender of the new rightful owner of the sword from the stone - a woman! Well Queen Guinevere would have been pleased!
A British Eurosceptic MEP has unleashed a volley of insults against the President of the European Council.
Nigel Farage, who leads UK Independence Party (UKIP) MEPS in the European parliament, said Herman van Rompuy had "the charisma of a damp rag".
He compared the former Belgian prime minister to a "low-grade bank clerk" and said he came from a "non-country".
The attack, which stunned the chamber, came as Mr Von Rompuy made his maiden appearance in parliament in Brussels.
"I don't want to be rude," Mr Farage began, before launching into a personal attack lasting several minutes.
"Who are you? I'd never heard of you, nobody in Europe had ever heard of you," Mr Farage thundered, as noisy disapproval at his intervention in the chamber rose.
'Competent and dangerous'
"Oh, I know democracy is not popular with you lot," he said, addressing the members of parliament as they voiced their surprise.
Mr Farage - known for his outspoken interventions - did, however, admit that he thought Mr Van Rompuy was "competent and capable", adding that this made him "dangerous".
"I have no doubt that your intention is to be the quiet assassin of European democracy and of European nation states," he said.
Mr Farage's party, UKIP, campaigns for the withdrawal of Britain from the European Union. It has 13 representatives in the European parliament.
"You seem to have a loathing for the very concept of the existence of nation states," Mr Farage continued, adding: "Perhaps that's because you come from Belgium, which is pretty much a non-country."
Mr Van Rompuy, 62, was chosen unanimously by the governments of the EU's 27 member states to take on the role of the first permanent European Council president.
Described as camera-shy and sometimes given the nickname the "grey mouse", he is seen as a coalition builder, credited for steering linguistically divided Belgium out of crisis.
In a typically low-key response to the comments, Mr Van Rompuy said: "There was one contribution that I can only hold in contempt, but I'm not going to comment further."
Well thank you Nigel Farage for speaking out in such forthright terms about some of the failings of this appointed president of the E.U. council imposed on the people of Europe as some sort of political president. We should not accept this imposition. As Nigel says, the British people don't want him and certainly we Scots don't want him.
Rompuy - lackey of the genocidal Belgian monarchy
Herman von Rompuy, a former Belgian minister, is nothing but a lackey of King Albert of Belgium who people should be told is the Great Grandnephew of King Leopold II of Belgium whose forces committed crimes against humanity in Africa in the King's so-called "Congo Free State", crimes of slavery and genocide against the African tribes-people there, with millions of Africans exterminated at the hands of the King of Belgium's men, as was exposed in the book 'The Crime of the Congo' by my fellow Scot, Arthur Conan Doyle, best known for his Sherlock Holmes stories. So it is elementary my dear Farage that one should never trust one of the King of Belgium's men.
So if we need a European President but certainly Rompuy is no use so then let's have a general election of ALL of the people of Europe to elect our president and maybe we'll elect someone as good or even better than President Obama, someone who would be worth the salary.
I'd like to propose my favourite world leader Condoleezza Rice as the candidate for President of the European Union and since we can happily have Americans working in Europe then why not elect the best American Condi Rice to work here in Europe some of the time as our European president and no doubt she can suggest a good vice president to elect to stand in for her here while she is out of Europe on other important world leadership duties.

Condoleezza Rice at the Malta Summit with USA. President George H. W. Bush and USSR General Secretary Mikhail S. Gorbachev in December 1989, on board the Soviet cruise ship Maxim Gorky, Marsaxlokk Harbour, Malta.
In this video of excerpts from the German film of the year 2000, "Deutschlandspiel" Condoleezza Rice narrates, dubbed into German, the history of the Malta Summit and the subsequent momentous meetings and agreements which sealed the formal reunification of Germany and the end of the cold war between East and West.
It would be nice to have this video in English for English speakers to enjoy.
I believe that the "Deutschlandspiel" DVD comes with an English-language subtitles option but I mean it would be nice to have something like this video in all English audio with Condoleezza Rice's voice heard and Gorbachev's voice dubbed-over in English and with the dramatisations played or dubbed-over by English-speaking actors/actresses and the additional commentary in spoken English.
Maybe there is an American movie or a British film with that in it already but it hasn't been uploaded to the web as yet? If not it would be a nice movie for someone to make.
Such video would obviously be an important chapter in a "The Condoleezza Rice Story" movie biography whenever Holywood gets round to that.
