Wow, be more hypocritical. If we have done any 'identity theft', it is no worse than what the French did when they came to North America. It was the natives who had originally came up with the name Canada - or kanata. Please don't act like it was the French who came up with the name. If anyone has a right to complain about so called identity theft, its damned well not the French.
LOL, those "Our Heritage" shorts on CBC.
Let dead and stupid threads die. |

Whatever side your on about WMD's (the entire world knew he had them, and used them). Besides that, there was numerous "reasons" we had to remove this madman, do they beleive it to be "unjust" to stop the brutality?
What's up with immigration? Just how lenient are they, and is there outrage?
It's good to get a perspective from a Canadian.
Yes, most Canadians consider the War on Iraq unjust, as Bush's two primary justifications given previous two it - connections between Iraq and Al Qaeda, and WMDs - have both been proven wrong. There are many dictators in the world, some of whom the US have co-operated with and aided, so it is not a rational argument to state that the United States went into Iraq purely to remove a dictator, however much they may argue that their motives were altruistic.
We're pretty lenient about immigration.
Quote: I think Quebec demanding nationalism is like Taiwan demanding nationalism...But wait, Taiwan has an economy and allies, so I guess it isn't like Quebec.
It is not. Quebec chose to join Canada at the time of Confederation; they have all the rights of any other province, plus more. They can't just say "oops, we changed our minds, we're leaving now". And Quebec's a pretty darn large part of Canada - what would the US do if a big part of America decided to form their own nation. Oh, that's right, that DID happen, and they fought the Civil War over it.
Besides which, Quebec would be in major trouble if it every DID successfully seperated. Because the only nation it would have borders with is Canada, and we wouldn't be very happy, and as Quebec is one of the "have-not" provinces and a recipient of considerable federal equalization payments, it's unlikely that it could even form an economically viable state. You'd think they'd take these things into account.
And if America (or anyone else) gets the idea into its head to come up here and "liberate" Quebec, I've got two words for you: guerilla warfare.

So what is it going to be?? Sovereignty by Association or Liberation by France and the coalition of the willing?
"Sovereignty-association" is an impossible concept, and a highly dangerous delusion for the people of Quebec. The existance of one will negate the existance of the other, because Canada will have no desire to associate with a province that rejects its part in our nation. You leave, and you have nothing - no trading borders, no waterways controlled by your nation, and a far worse economic position than the one you presently have due to equalization payments. |

your a wacko! But I'm sure there are plenty of Canadians that would disagree with you and may even be fine with becoming our next state!
On toward Canada! Ho! How about we just drop a few little bunker busters and see how many of you come out of your igloos and decide to fight American troops! Onward HO!

Yes, You have finally found us out! After Canada we're going down to Mexico to kick Fox out and establish a USA South! It's all about control, don't ya know. America has to go to war because we just love it, we need to be in charge. How dare us! imperialistic Americans!
Look at all the great hockey and soccer players we would acquire. It's all good, all good for our capitalist society. You'll get used to it and you WILL like it.

Just a little thing about americans not having resistance if they set up base in canada... You forget the War of 1812 and the Fenians. I admit, in an all out war (like 1812) Canada would more than definately lose, but if you look at the Fenian invasions, then you'll see that Canada can hold it's own in non-traditional warfare |

Janis, I'm not surprised at your racist, totalitarian comments. You're strengthening my belief in that THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT wants Global Domination. I mean, you actually had the guts to invent the idea of Canadians living in igloos just like you made up the idea that Arabs live in tents! I lived in a two-story villa back in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for Allah's sake!
Sure, Quebec is a province unlike any other: it is predominantly French-speaking. It's also one of the oldest Canadian provinces. It would be a shame if it were to go to such a discriminating government such as that of America. So, don't say anything bad about Quebec.
See how I stuck to the subject? Don't bring the middle east into this talk like the other guys did in the first few threads of this forum. And it seems that people like you shouldn't be taken seriously: your immature comments have proven themselves time and time again through the forums. |

I wasn't even going to give Moath the satisfaction of a response. I don't think anyone else here thought I was being serious about Canadians living in Igloos or Arabs live in tents. The thought is so profoundly absurd that I didn't think anyone would take such offense and use the remarks as justification to attack me. Moath is a bit uptight.
In Moaths mind THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT wants Global Domination and I have just confirmed that belief.
Yeesshhhhh! Let this thread die unless there is either a serious remark or just a reply having fun with the title.
"Don't say anything bad about Quebec"
It leaves itself open for comebacks. Telling people NOT to do something almost invites the playful sarcasm.
Moath, you are the racist, close minded poster here. Don't get your panties in a bunch. Lighten up. We know you hate America, but this thread is about Quebec and I have nothing against Quebec and nothing against Arabs.
I do take offense to anti-Americanism from both Canadians and Arabs. I don't discriminate. I will defend our foreign policy, whether or not you may like it, but that could be another thread.
Peace man!
Let's hope the free people of the world will stand together against those who hate. America is assisting in winning the peace by supporting those who want to carry on in the fight against those who want oppression of religion and human rights. |

Racist? I think not. Why would I be racist? I mentioned nothing bad about Americans; just their GOVERNMENT. And ya, I was a bit uptight. And I do apologize if I was rude; I didn't mean to be.
Let's hope the free people of the world will stand together against those who hate.
True, but then people will be on top of each other. I mean, I support this view 100%, but the world is extremely delved into politics these days. Let's not throw accusations lest we turn this into a senselessly heated debate about something else. This topic is about Quebec. But seriously, Janis, that comment about us Arabs living in tents in that "Who do you support...?" thread isn't taken as a joke by many Arabs, including myself. I mean, there are limits when it comes to dialogue. I'm trying my best to stay within those limits.
Peace. |
