"Gotham City," is clearly modeled after New York and I think the movies were filmed there. At least some were, definitely.

"Gotham" is actually a nickname of New York.

Oh, and living in Maryland, I just have to say Washington D.C. s*cks. It's a blight on this country.

The government is extremely corrupt and the city is plagued with crime and poverty.

There are two sides to Washington D.C. ...

There's the D.C. that you see in postcards and on Capitol Hill...

And then there's reality.

If NYC had good weather, I really couldn't think of a better city to live in. The food is worth all of it.

I heard that DC had the highest crime rate in the country. I figured it was that they were figuring in all of the crime by politicians (seriously), but it was violent crime, like murders, robberies and the like.

Reported/known crime rate, of course. The FBI makes sure to explicitly state that their facts and figures could be drastically off, depending on the amount of unknown crime.

That said, one of the safest cities in the nation, Irvine (CA), is also one of the most boring, creepy, and weird tract-house-ridden places I've ever been.

Quote: Why are writers so obsessed with this city?

Because its one of the few American cities with character.

Quote: I wouldn't mind an apartment in Brooklyn...

Depends on which part of Brooklyn. My neighborhood is an old Italian neighborhood. Its safe, working class and family oriented. Some places in Brooklyn I would suggest never even thinking of going into.

Quote: Chicago pwns New York in every way.

Chicago people are just mad because we have better pizza.

All this being said. I would still prefer to have a house in the Garden District of New Orleans. Of course, the NoLa I remember probably doesn't exist anymore.
