Perhaps, but I would still like to live there.

I suppose most of it depends upon what happens to me after schooling, but with any luck, I'll be offered a position with a firm in New York.

I haven't been to Chicago for a very long time, but I don't think it can compare.

New York is okay, but Toronto is better.

I want to go to Toronto. Canada has some good clubs, that host some relatively big name DJ's. I want to go sometime. Go clubbing, Kumar?

Chicago has deep dish pizza...

That's about it.

Nah, clubbing is not something I consider to be much fun. From what my friends say though, Montreal is better than Toronto in terms of nightlife.

Well, I just like the music. I have never been, because I'm not 21. However, all I want is a bottle of water and a good DJ.

I love New York. If I didn't have small children, I'd live there. My husband grew up there, and we still have family not far from the city.

NYC = Awesome.

I've been there four times...and I loved it each time. I stayed out in Queens and went in on the Bus and the Subway...

The thing I couldn't get over? Their traffic wasn't as bad as what I've been through in the Bay Area..

I know a guy that lives in Lower Manhattan in a $2 Million loft. Very nice.

I like it...because it's not lame like the city I live in now. Damn suburbia...

I've been to NYC...and I've been to San Francisco, CA...and Denver, CO...Phoenix, AR...Los Angeles, CA...Chicago, IL...Washington D.C....

and nothing compares.

I actually just enjoyed walking down the crowded streets looking at all the people...with no schedule, I could've done that for hours.

I practically did exactly that in Central Park.

The first time I went to New York was on a debate trip my sophomore year. We had a tournament at Columbia University, and I got selected to go, which was pretty cool.

I fell in love with the city. The subway system was great, and much better than having to worry about a car, and gas, and insurance. The culture was amazing, Broadway, Times Square, MOMA Queens, and some of the best musicians I've ever heard in Grand Central Station. The history was overwhelming, the Empire State Building, 9/11 Memorial, Statue of Liberty, Eilis Island.

And there was something else about it that I just couldn't explain... There was something more than made it feel different, special, and unique all at the same time. Regardless, I was hooked within a week.

Because New York has become to prime example of an American city.

New York has become the theatrical symbol of generic America, as you've stated.
Yeah, btw I noticed another one: Batman.

"Gotham City," is clearly modeled after New York and I think the movies were filmed there. At least some were, definitely.

It pays to have a fire wipe out all the ghetto and get a new clean modern city.

Chicago pwns New York in every way.
Oh, and living in Maryland, I just have to say Washington D.C. s*cks. It's a blight on this country.

Tourists come here and say, "Holy s**t. Look at this place. This is the capital of America? It's horrible."

The government is extremely corrupt and the city is plagued with crime and poverty.
