I dont really see how any of this really matters. We are well on our way to a cashless society. Most people have debit or check cards that they use more than cash anyway. And why now all of a sudden? There have always been blind folks and our money has been what it is for quite some time. But now when cash is on its way out we should spend time and money to change it for a small minority group?

just a small point: when the Euro was introduced they added "mentioned" dots and slashes so blind people can distinguish the notes. Plus there's a size difference between the notes. Why didn't you start introducing the same thing when you introduced your new $20 bill?

Plus, this takes basically no effort at all, bills are withdrawn and exchanged by new ones every couple of months anyways, so there should be a possiblity to exchange 95% of the bills in about a year's time without going through all the fuss of introducing a whole new set of bills at once. The other 5% can be easily made to cough em up by telling folks they won't be accepted after one or two years. Basically no effort at all.

It's sad that this is what our judiciary has come to. Printing such bills is not "discriminatory." Please, someone show me proof that bills are made the way they are now in order to discriminate against blind people. We can't pander to every single little group of people for trivial things like this.

Now is the first time they've gotten a ruling. I don't see a problem with putting a few dots on a bill. The judge didn't demand that all bills be recalled and replaced immediately, just that they incorporate this into their printing technique in the future.

This really isn't too much to ask. It is a simple change that should have been made long ago. The blind have to deal with a lot of things and worrying about whether they gave someone a dollar or a hundred dollars doesn't need to be one of those things.

Hell, they could just add a notch in the side of the bill and all it would take is fitting new cutting blades or modifying existing ones. This doesn't need to be an expensive endeavor.

it doesn't need to cost a thing because it doesn't need to be done.
