Is it just me or some of you guys also have noticed that our president's best diplomatic move is simple and elegant, it consist of 5 words: "I don't talk to you."
He said that to Iran, N Korea and other problem nations that we have to dealt with. |

In the case of North Korea, I believe the point was explicitly made by many that if North Korea wouldn't cooperate with the SIX nations of accord, there was no reason to assume that unilateral discussions would be successful. |

Yeah, like when he was explaining how we could not have any rogue nations developing nukes to justify his Iraq invasion..... and when people pointed out both Iran and North Korea are within spitting distance of having nukes it was all about...
"HUH? Oh... uhhhhhh... that's a different problem." |

Which is the diplomatic equivalent of plugging one's ears and screaming:
"Nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah ..... I CAN'T HEAR YOU!"
wonderful..... |

In all honesty, there really is nothing we can do about N.K.
Diplomacy fails so often because both sides have to have something to gain from coming to the table. What does North Korea gain from "coming to the table". Empty ultimatums. Why do they even bother? |

There were talks of trade deals, lifting of sanctions and other amenities for North Korea if they would agree to denuclearization. With regards to North Korea I think the dynamic is a little different, because we have a powerful (if unlikely) ally in China - North Koreas largest (and almost sole) trading partner. |

But N.K. obviously doesn't want to denuclearize. Kim couldn't give two s**ts about his people dying. |
