I agree and I'd prefer not to, but I can already see that it's inevitable.
Bill O'Reilly will be yapping his mouth about this crap non-stop and the wacko right-wing nutjobs on this forum will be dumping columns about it on here.

(1) the nativity has been displayed in Daley Center as long as I can remember, much longer than Christkindlmarket, much longer than me.
(2) I was at Christkindlmarket this past Saturday, and the nativity IS THERE.
The nativity has NOT BEEN BOOTED. That's a bold-faced lie.
(3) In the 10 years or so I've been going faithfully to Christkindlmarket (since it opened), NOT ONCE has ANY movie been endorsed. No movie, no book, none of that. This is a street-type fair, and no advertising of any sort is to be seen.
Sorry some movie wanted to be the first to get free advertisement out of Christkindlmarket, but too bad. This market isn't about hollywood, it isn't about books, it isn't to sell anything other than German and other ethnic Christmas wares.
This story is a NON-ISSUE made into something it's not.
If you want to advertise movies, start your own damn festival in your own yard. Leave the stupid drama out of my city!
Cool_chick, I originally saw this story on CNN. CNN reported exactly what you did, that there's still a nativity scene there and also a menorah. The actual story is that Christkindlmarket dropped New Line Cinema as a supporter for their Christmas goings-on because they wanted to advertise their new movie, called "Nativity," and Christkindlmarket thought it would offend non-Christians.
This was just a case, I think, of the newsmedias all fighting to find the first battle in the war on Christmas, this year, for ratings. |

If these people might get offended by this, then they always have the option of not attending this at all.
Extreme, I know
Attending what? |

One hell of a way to get your movie out there in front view...make dramatics out of nothing. This story is such a non-issue bullsh!t it's not even funny.
I've never EVER seen any movie advertisements at Christkindlmarket. I hope I never do! God, how cheesy....
War on Christmas, my a$$.... |

I'm going to assume this post is tongue in cheek, because someone saying something like this with an aire of pride is not a social concept I'm prepared to do anything but laugh at. |
