| I was watching Desperate Housewives the other night, and noticed that the boxes containing Christmas decorations were labeled "holiday" stuff or "winter" stuff. Odd that I would notice that considering there were hot chicks in the same frame. |

To this day I have not met a single person who celebrates Kwanza.
Google for "black nationalist forum"
I did, and this was the first hit on Google:
Now that's lovely, isn't it? |

I used to celebrate Kwanzaa, but we don't do that as often anymore. I don't know why. |

| I hate all the politically correct crap. Most of the country celebrates Christmas. Why bend over backwards not to offend people. Slow drivers and old people offend me, who cares? Deal with it. This crap does not to seem to be affecting stupid Christmas commercials unfortunatly. |

I'm so tired of people of every flavor with thin skin. Nowhere in the Consitution is a right to never be offended even hinted at. If I run a store and I want to decorate it with Christmas stuff and that offends, say, Jews, too bad for us both. They'll be offended and I'll be out whatever money they would have spent. If I want to say Merry Christmas to a Muslim, I'm going to, and if they're offended, too Allah-damned bad.
Everybody get over it. |

| What about the people who are offended by people not saying Christmas? Are you people intolerant of us? Its offensive to me if you do not say merry christmas, therefore the government should forbid everyone from saying anything other than merry christmas. my needs need to be catered to no matter how small of a minority i am. |

Happy Holidays includes Christmas. But if you want to be offended by it, that's fine. Where has the gov't forbode you from saying Merry Christmas? |

How dare you automatically label him a bigot. He isn't necessarily serious. He might just be joking.
I'm a bigot and I take serious offense to such stereotypes! |

It's been going on since at least the 1940's.
Not the Christmas thing again. This was a city asking a private company to drop sponsership to avoid offending people. The city didn't force anyone to do it.
Christmas may be a Christian holiday, but it's not the only one celebrated this time of year. There's Haunakah, Kwanza, New Year's and probably others. I realize Christmas is the largest, but to someone, all or some of these other holidays are bigger to them than Christmas so if Wal-Mart wants to make its employees say Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas, so be it. If certain local gov't's prefer to say Happy Holidays, then so be it. I don't care what people say frankly, and I really hope this doesn't get made into a huge deal again like last year, though I did find Stewart's retorts to Bill O'Reilly hillarious.
Maybe New Deal liberalism.....which could be described as an eclectic mix of socialism and fascism.
No, it could not be described at all as fascism. And ALL gov't is a form of socialism, so while accurate, the New Deal is no more socialist a program than a military that is paid for by all of us unequally and used by all of us equally. The surviving New Deal programs fixed the problems America faced. From that standpoint, they were a complete success.
Anyway, this is about the war on Christmas, not social security and other such programs.
Bah, no fun then. Trashing FDR is easy and fun  |

I'm not a bigot, merely sardonic, thus I found that reply delicious.
Btw, I should have given credit to the baby jesus comment. David Spade said that a long time ago in reference to Yanni (iirc) releasing a Christmas album. |

Very good. The next Puerto Rican Day Parade or St. Patrick's Day Parade going through town better include displays by other nationalities, as not being included offends me.
I think "War" is a rediculous term for it, but by choice I'm giving Walmart a first look for my shopping, given they've made clear they will have Christmas displays, not just Happy Holidays. |

St. Patrick's Day is ONE day. It's not part of the Holiday season, which according to retailers, ends after Valentine's Day. It's not the same thing to cite such a specific holiday and compare it to this time of year where we have three major holidays all within the span of three weeks. |

I'll accept that. However, I'd prefer to allow all three types of displays (separately), than have one large "Holiday" holiday -- Its too generic. In this case, I don't understand manipulating an obvious Christmas festival -- As long as the government doesn't prevent Hanukah or Kwanzaa celebrations under similar circumstances, and are not publicly supporting the celebrations themselves, I don't see why they would need to interfere. |

Ok, first of all, this is a STUPID STORY.
(1) the nativity has been displayed in Daley Center as long as I can remember, much longer than Christkindlmarket, much longer than me.
(2) I was at Christkindlmarket this past Saturday, and the nativity IS THERE.
The nativity has NOT BEEN BOOTED. That's a bold-faced lie.
(3) In the 10 years or so I've been going faithfully to Christkindlmarket (since it opened), NOT ONCE has ANY movie been endorsed. No movie, no book, none of that. This is a street-type fair, and no advertising of any sort is to be seen.
Sorry some movie wanted to be the first to get free advertisement out of Christkindlmarket, but too bad. This market isn't about hollywood, it isn't about books, it isn't to sell anything other than German and other ethnic Christmas wares.
This story is a NON-ISSUE made into something it's not.
If you want to advertise movies, start your own damn festival in your own yard. Leave the stupid drama out of my city! |

Here's a radical idea (hold your breath):
If these people might get offended by this, then they always have the option of not attending this at all.
Extreme, I know  |
