| As I lay in my bed about to go to sleep, I sometimes get this sudden very odd feeling. It is as if I'm temporarily in vertigo and I feel like I'm spinning around, accelerating forward, or on a roller coaster. It literally feels for a few seconds like I'm not even in bed anymore. I often wondered what it is as it goes as suddenly as it comes. |

Thanks, it looks like that may be it. Several of the symptoms match well:
Falling sensation
Floating sensations
Involuntary movements
Vividness |

Glad to be of assistance. This sort of thing happens to me quite frequently as well. Just the brain doing mad stuff to get ready for REM, I imagine.
While we're on the subject of sleep:

I've done this. It's really cool. |

Does it at any point feel like you can't move? |

I've done that too (I think). I have these really vivid dreams where the visuals are half things in my room (or wherever I'm sleeping) and half my imagination. The coolest thing is that I can control to a pretty strong degree what exactly goes on. It only lasts maybe 5 minutes, but I've had some pretty weird, inexplicable dreams. The weirdest was something like all of the people and things on the posters on my wall across the room coming to life and leaving the walls for a moment. |

I get a weird one where i feel concious but unable to move at all even though I am trying its very strange, often happens when I get up to early and fall back to sleep.
Edit: I missed out that I try to shout out for help but my mouth won't move and a black shape seems to crawel up my body, its pretty f****d up I sometime hear voices calling me when im in that state. |

It's called Sleep Paralysis.
http://www.stanford.edu/~dement/paralysis.html
It's also supposed to be the precursor to an OBE or Out of Body Experience. |

In some cultures, there are myths about a Ghost or Spirit that weighs a person down when he/she is in a half - sleep state, causing paralysis. I've had that experience too, and I'm sure plenty of others have. |
