before the start of the american decline, we were internationally respected, and we did have the best living conditions in the world.
if you ahd actually read in context what i was saying you would have noticed it was the pre-decline period |

There was no claim of context, you made no mention of the US being previously the best country in the world. Your wording was in present tense. |

"not sure if america was ever the greatest country"
which implies the past. i then made a statement regarding that.
this battle of semantics is stupid. address the points or move along. |

You started the battle of semantics. I doubt that you just read my first sentence and based your response on that. Perhaps you should read the whole post and respond accordingly. |

I did argue the points, but you seem to want to dwell on the past |

I said the most money and biggest miltary does not constitute the best country in the world. You have to take into account access to quality health care, education quality, standards of living, racial equality, government corruption levels, and the level of freedom. All of which, now that Bush has been in office, have seriously lacked behind most western European countries. |

"Greatest" would apply to any number of factors. Healthcare? Well, the Netherlands are supposed to be fantastic, and has universal coverage. However, are they the greatest militarily? China's GDP is amazing at this point. However, their views on freedom leave people wanting.
The "greatest" will use any number of criteria, and each person has their own set of criteria on what makes a country the "greatest". Essentially, its an impossible question to answer. |

What's your point? It's still one of the best countries to live in, regardless of where they received their funding. |

europe is mostly socialist. and the reason they all have healthcare is because the government taxes the s**t out of it's citizens. our education is some of hte best in the world. we actually educate everyone, unlike almost the entire world which educates the rich and the bright. almost all of the world is steeped in racism and racial inequality. government corruption does not make a country bad, it makes a government bad. and america is currently one of the most free nations in the world. |
