The fact that they are citizens is where the problem lies. It's not just that the French (and I am speaking generally here) are opposed to immigrants who refuse to adapt, because there is nothing at all unreasonable about that. The fact is that many French who are citizens but happen to have been born outside French borders are looked down upon. That is simply not right. It just makes it that much harder for immigrants to integrate once they land on French soil.

The bottom line is that there's nothing wrong with taking steps to maintain national identity, but singling out outsiders is the wrong way to approach things.

Here's a thought, why do people who have a preconceived notion that "white" people are bad move to the West? If you don't like white people then why the f**k are you moving here? I'm very defensive of my culture, you should not be able to become a citizen if you are not fluent in the language, know the basic history, and basic aspects of the culture.

Well yeah, if they are citizens then they should be respected as such.
