What are your most emotion evoking songs? They don't have to be sad, just stuff that can really get to you.
Mine is Somebody to Love by Queen...just listen to it and you'll know what I mean.
And Keep Yourself Alive too (also by Queen), the music fits the lyrics perfectly.
What about you guys?

what sarah said by death cab for cutie or ma jolie by bear vs shark or maps by the yeah yeah yeahs give me the strongest emotional reactions.
each song i listen to gives me, personally, a strong emotional reponse. my memory reacts the strongest to music too, so it usually brings up a memory. too many songs to list and what emotions and memories they bring up to make a sensible post so i'll just leave it at the three above. |

The only kind of music that can actually evoke emotion from me is thematical music. Something from a movie or a show that has a story behind it, and the theme is a reminder of something sad from the story.
I don't like songs with the story written in the lyrics, they don't succeed about making me care about the characters described in the song, and they are all the same. (either some guy singing about his girlfriend, or a country song about a car crash, etc).
The only melodies I can think of that can get me in an emotional state upon hearing it, are the violin solo (I think it's violin) from The Last Samurai, and 素敵だね (Isn't it Wonderful?) from FFX.
It's sad that I'm not listing anything from an opera or musical, considering my talk about thematical music, but I haven't had the oppurtunity to see much opera (just carmen) and I can't think of any sad musicals. |
