(New York City) Rosie O'Donnell is accusing Kelly Ripa of making a homophobic comment about singer Clay Aiken.
Last Friday Aiken co-hosted the Regis and Kelly show, sitting in for Philbin. At one point Aiken put his hand over Ripa's mouth in what was supposed to be a comic way.
Ripa didn't see it that way, saying she didn't find it funny. "That's a no, no," adding "I don't know where that hand's been, honey."
On Monday, when asked by Philbin about it Ripa said Aikin was being disrespectful and that previously he had been in the audience shaking hands with a lot of people.
Tuesday the issue hit "The View", also on ABC, with O'Donnell calling Ripa's remarks offensive.
O'Donnell said that as a gay woman she found it 'Homophobic".

Another report that I read alleged that the reason Aiken put his hand over Ripa's mouth was that she wouldn't shut up long enough for him to get a word in edgewise. I guess the 'disrespect' went both ways.
My opinion: Rosie O'Donnell is going off the deep end. Only Kelly Ripa knows what was going on in Ripa's own head when the remark was made. Moreover, Clay Aiken has not 'come out', so speculation about his orientation is just that - speculation.
Rosie should zip it, and think 3 or 4 times before she decides to open her mouth about a non-issue again, IMNSHO |

| Kelly Ripa's remark may have been rude, but assuming it was homophobic makes no sense to me. Clay Aiken's hand could have been all sorts of places, including scratching hilsenf, that would cause Kelly not to want it on her mouth. I support a lot of What Rosie O'Donnel has to say, especcally regarding the rights of homosexuals to adopt children, but this is silly. |

It might be a homophobic (I hate that word) comment if Clay Aiken was actually gay, but since he's not Rosie was out of line for even suggesting it.
For the record, I don't like Rosie O'Donnell, isn't she dead set against destroying the second amendment? |

| Anyone ever puts their hand over my mouth they are getting a smack down because I don't know where their hands have been and that has nothing to do with sexuality whatsoever. |

Rumors about Aiken's sexuality are nothing new. In fact, that vile Perez Hilton, who considers it his queer duty to out other folks and who pretty much forced Lance Bass ("Princess Frostylocks," as he calls him), is licking his lips over this incident.
I say Rosie, whether she intended to or not, outed Aiken by saying that what Ripa did was "homophobic." And I don't see how what Ripa did was. I'd be ticked off if somebody covered my mouth with his hand too, particularly on my own TV show. What she said was, "That's a no-no," just like anybody else who has little kids says. It's the cold-and-flu season, and having sick little kids is a real misery, particularly around the holidays. |

Kelly ripa is better looking, therefore, her opinion matters to me more than Rosie O'cheesburger.
I used to laugh at her first show, but then she turned it political by ambushing Selleck on her show. Now her pro-gay stance on EVERYTHING and how everything is related back to gay issues even when they are not make me want to punch her in her ovaries.
I am the anti-Rosie O'donnell |

to be quite honest, I really don't like Ripa either, but why is it, when she doesn't like a person that's gay, it's homophobic. Can't she just think Clay Aiken is a douchebag without it being a gay issue?
Rosie chooses to be gay because her career flopped when she took on the NRA, now she has to find a new issue to grab ahold of to boost her career. Gay is it.
Being unsuccessful with men doesn't make you gay, Rosie. it means you are fat and have a bad personality |

Rosie doesn't want to mess with Kelly R. Kelly is very well liked by many more people than Rosie. Rosie picking a fight (unnecessarily I might add) with Kelly is another nail in Rosie's career coffin.
I saw the Kelly/Clay interaction and saw absolutely nothing homophobic about it. I have used the "don't know where you hand has been" line on people before, regardless of knowing their sexuality.
I used to like Rosie, but in the last few years....not so much.
In summary: Rosie - relax and get over yourself. |
