In all seriousness....
The biggest problem in games is that garbage like "50 Cent's" game often outsells well designed or innovative games like "the Ship". Therefore giving Video game companies no incentive to do anything other than regurgitate the same, poorly made brand name garbage that hold less risk rather than take chances funding new ideas. This can be summed up as EA conglomeration.

I think this statement really shows what's wrong with gaming today. People enjoy annoying others over the internet because they know there will be no real consequence.

EA certainly likes to take a step back with many of their titles. Games like 50 Cent's will sell soley based upon the name, but they aren't the only reason games don't need to be well designed or innovative. It's just most people will buy a product based upon the name. Look at Madden, a huge name which sales because it has a monopoly on football and it's name. It actually has had features removed from it. Look at consoles, people will buy one just based upon it's name and nothing else. Your average American will think Playstation when they think console. On numerous occasions I've been to a BestBuy or Gamestop only to hear people talking about how it's so amazingly powerful compared to a 360 because Sony makes (a Gamestop informed me it was so powerful because it had Blu-Ray.....). So I don't fault the game companies for putting out crappy titles that sell, I just won't buy them as I've sold my copy of Madden 07 and will not buy another one (my first Madden purchase in about 5 years).
You have to make a game to sell and there will always be games that are just shot out for the masses and there will be games that are innovative and fresh. I can understand both and I don't see a huge problem with the games coming out today. Of course that's based upon how I feel fullfilled by current releases (such as Gears of War, Supreme Commander Beta, Rainbow 6: Las Vegas, etc).

You seem to know what your talking about and have a lot of the same opinions about games as myself......

Now is the time to rise up and strike down the Video game Heathens, starting with Reverent.

Ya that's why I run my own servers so I can use my own private ban hammer :).
Another reason why I enjoy Xbox Live! as it allows me to avoid contact with those types. I certainly hope Steam, PS online, BF, etc picks up on that feature.
