Maybe the whole world will wake up and realize we have way bigger fish to fry. |

You must not have gotten the memo.
If you are against gay marriage, you might as well move back to the plantation and buy some slaves to work it. You are more of a threat than Bin Laden if you think gay people shouldn't wed.
funny world we live in, isn't it? |

So I guess the real question is would it be better to live in a society in which gays are legally discrimnated against, or one where they are not?
I suppose you'll let your God decide that for you. |

Oh, it wouldn't. So would covering women faces. Forbidding interracial marriage. Banning music. Me, stealing your money. Sure, the world would continue to exist, society can go on a bit modified.
But this is not of what makes the world end. It's a concept of freedom, and it doesn't matter what, and how small, anything that violates it must be eliminated.
If that's what the defense from the conservatives have reached "oh come on, nobody would notice it", they have hit rock hard bottom in being morally bankrupt. |

No, it doesn't. Religion comes with freedom. Yes, the MidEast needs change, and it is changing. America has no right to change it forcefully, as it has no moral position to do so.

I'm not a lesbo and I still can't marry another woman.
Hey...ever heard of power of attorney, living wills, trusts or that old crusty thing called a will? How do you think the rest of us non-married, non-gays navigate around in the married world? Get a grip. |

Wrong question. Because personal prefferance is not nesseserily the moral or free one. I would be better off by stealing "his" money as per the above example. This doesn't make it right.
Everyone must be free, as long as it doesn't violate someone else's freedom. It's that simple, and philosphers were saying that (but not heard) since ancient Greek times.
He must be free to achieve the best, according to his skills and abilities, and live as happy as he can. You know, pursuit of happiness and all that?
And of course, wither God tells me to steal his money or not is irrelevant. If He wants it, He can come down here and take it. |

You can't mention "fish" in a response to a posting about gays. Wait for the posting about lesbians before you bring fish into the mix. Thank you. |

I wonder if God is gay.
I strongly suspect Jesus was, and all those guys who decided to be a priest you had to swear off women for life (as if that was a big deal for them) |

Quote: I'm not gay and I still can't marry another woman.
Logical fallacy, here is another example:
Concider that there are some people... who hate spaghetti (a prefferance).
And so they ban it.
Some complain. "But what about or freedom to eat spaghetti? It doesn't hurt anyone and it makes our lives happier" "This is discrimination!"
And the one answers:
"No it isn't. I/we can't eat spaghetti either."
Wither someone is happy (intentionally) or not with a reduction of freedom, does not change the fundamental fact that it gets reduced, and that others aren't especially when based in no-sense. |

That is quite simply the most ridiculous excuse for not allowing gay marriage I have ever heard. Because you are not gay so you can't gay marry? You don't belong to the gay community or want to marry another woman, so how are you being discriminated against? |

Look, I'm not totally against gay marriage. If a lesbian and a gay man want to get married I wish them all the best.
But seriously, gays have access to everything married straights do under different titles except when it comes to taxes. |

Sorry, the gays of today aren't the blacks of yesterday. Nice try. If you want to continue down that road I'd like to see your views on incest marriages. Perhaps grandfather who want to marry their 12 year-old grandsons. You gonna deny them their "rights" as well? |

There is no discrimination when freedom is increased. You have the right not to go down a road, but the freedom to go down to.
Discrimination is when you don't have the right to go down the road. |
