What RTSs are there available that allow almost total customization of units similar to that in Alpha Centauri?
I've been wanting to play one but, I can't really find one that does exactly as I've wanted... |

| Check out Supreme Commander. The game is supposed to be extremely MOD friendly when it's released (in about 3 months) |

I wouldn't mind a redo of Age of Kings that allows you to completely outfit each unit in your military with any particular weapon, armor, horse or ability.
Anything that would remove the "click-fest", the "rush" and the "numbers game" from the RTS field. |

Shattered galaxy. You need to pay to get the whole thing, but the free version is fine. The only thing that is limitied is the levels.
It is an MMORTS that has sucky graphics but is fine none the less. |

| I wish there was a mod out there to turn Kohan into a Middle Age game with the same gameplay that they have. Anyone know of any mods for Kohan (the first one)? |

Spring and Strategus are the ones I can think of that are like blank slate games.
Most good RTS games are modifiable though. |

The game would be insanely detailed.
Here's an example:
Middle Age:
I start with a basic infantry soldier and equip him with:
a type of sword or weapon (the sword is designed according to metal, blade type, hilt size, etc.)
an array of armor types (leather, scale, chain, plate, etc. of various bodily combinations) you can even control the style
trained in a number of skills (hide, track, swordplay, etc.)
Also, continue the route with modern times: |

RTS is wrecked by having too many units. it will not be balanced, and it will not have appreciable strategic depth.
There are games that are good for noobs, like age of empires, but a proper student of strategy would like the transcendental beauty of starcraft. |

yes, because starcraft is such a game of strategy when everyone's strategy is to mass battlecruisers, carriers, or mutalisks. |
