The sky is falling...........The sky is falling........Somebody said N i g g e r !
Holy $hit. What bunch of watered down jelly fish. Hasn't anyone ever heard the word N i g g e r before? Its a word derived from Negro. Grow up and get over it.
If anything, this could only help his career as he hasn't really done anything since Seinfeld. He needed the publicity and now he's got it. |

I have to assume that what the heckler said was way worse than
"my friend doesn't think your funny"
to get a response like this.
The TMZ guy said something along these lines in an interview.
As for this being a possible set up, didn't TMZ do something a while ago, like get right in the face of some celebrity with at camera. Basically forcing the celeb to push him out of his way.
I think these guys instigate situation with celebrities to get it on film.
But I'm not saying this was, but I wouldn't rule it out, coming from these guys. |

I think the fact that people here refuse to type out the word '****' speaks in and of itself in a strange way.
Richards was clearly caught in a racist tirade - and I personally am not so worried that a black comedian making the same comments about white people would go 'unpunished'. It clearly is different to use the word **** and to use the word cracker, and I think that is obvious - even if it isn't completely logical.
Wow - a quick edit made me realize that this forum actually edit outs the racial epithet that Richards used. Comical, if you ask me. I am curious if similar words '****', 'jap', 'k**e / kyke', 'wop' and others are treated the same - or if our own forum is guilty of the same 'infraction' that many here are claiming the problem - treating the 'n word' as something different entirely.
For those curious - a chinese racial epithet was edited out, as was one spelling of an insult to jews. They are the more popular ones I would suppose, so it might be an indication that the forum is not 'biased' in this manner. |

Quote: Not sure where to put this, as there's no racial forum and this is bound to get too "political," for the lounge forum, but...
I'd say the current events sectuion is fine. The "Society" section would work too. |

It's bulls**t. He didn't do a 'racist rant' and didn't have an 'angry meltdown' either.
Here's a note I sent to CNN:
Quote:
CNN, you have 'spun' the incident with the comedian the wrong way, thus
PROMOTING racist DIVIDES.
The comedian cares not about the size, shape nor color of audience
members.
When a group begins disruptive behavior, it is the entertainers JOB to
remind them of BOTH audience and community responsibility, thus defusing
the situation.
This comedian used satire to REMIND his disruptive audience members of
how HORRID society used to be under segregation, where POC's (people of
color) were CENSORED and DENIED participation.
Unfortunately, the SAME so-called 'positive-people' that CAST-OUT
'beloved-neighbors to HATE BelovedNeighbors, have TRAINED those whom
were once segregated to utilize that same hateful ideology, to loft
themselves on self-made 'victim-stages' to boo-hoo for
profit/sympathy/attention when disruptive (segregatorial) behavior is
HILIGHTED, in so-called 'positive-goodness.'
REMEMBER how HORRID it WAS? Now, even comics are CENSORED from
discussing it. And that is truly 'indecent' AND 'offensive.'
It is your responsibility as news reporters to be the MOST TRUSTED NAME
IN NEWS and REDUCE racial hatreds, not enflame them.
New managers at CNN or something? It appears they are promoting DIVIDES
and HATREDS instead of the unity of a peaceful United States and Earth;
their messaging a subtle simmering insult to all. I feel sorry for the
heroes at the news-desks that must pretend to smile when reading scripts
of such subtle hateful content.
Please FIX it.
Kind Regards,
It was HIS PERFORMANCE and he merely REMINDED people of their civic responsibility in attending public gatherings by using SATIRE, a comic's 'best-friend,' always.
Those whom were HARRASSING the performer, in so-called 'positive-goodness,' THEN turned around and said, "Oh, we're so oppressed! We're victims! Our positive-goodness' is being QUESTIONED!"
At one time, as Michael Richards was ATTEMPTING to portray, ANY CONCOCTED EXCUSE was used to CAST-OUT anybody 'different' --
-- and hate them in so-called 'positive-godly-goodness.'
Audience participation. He did that -- he does that beautifully. And makes a message out of it to REMIND all of us that 'special-interest' IS segregatorial. We are supposed to be the UNITED STATES, not the 'divided-states-of-petty-hatreds.'
Are you crucifying the messenger and ignoring the message in your own HatefulReligiousSupremacist so-called 'positive-goodness'? Hammering him ruthlessly to your own self-made and merciless so-called 'positive-cross-sign' -- FigurativeCarpentry -- CrucifiXtion -- TheCrossOfShame/Hate -- using the nails from the points of your own hypocritical forked-tongue in so-called 'positive-goodness'?
Religions HATE you ALL for ANY CONCOCTED EXCUSE ... while ONLY GOVERNMENT LOVES YOU ALL EQUALLY.
You are being PLAYED by HatefulReligiousSupremacists to further their hateful agenda to DIVIDE instead of unite in PeaceOnEarth as COMMANDED. Yeah, I commanded it. So what? I suggest you do the same, and stop being so f***ing 'positive.' |

Black comics are some of the most racist entertainers on the air. Asians are made fun of by everyone and the media never cares. Blacks call each other ni**ers everyday and no its not okay. If a white man can get fired for saying **** they shouldn't say it either.
Go watch the kings of comedy dvd's, its rediculous. |

Uh, that wasn't "racism"
It was just someone trying to be funny and failing at it.
Have you ever watched Lisa Lampanelli's act? That's racism lol!!
Seriously, you guys got to chill out. If you think that was racist, you know nothing about stand-up comedy. Go out and live a little. |

there was no punch line! there was no joke! just a foul tirade. I feel bad for the guy but it gives me hope for this country. the almost universal disgust tells me we have come a long way. not that we still dont have a ways to go. |

I'm not saying that Richards is a racist, but what he said surely was racist. He said that 50 years ago, the two black hecklers would've had a fork stuck up their butts.
Further, he wasn't trying to funny at that point; he was furious. He's not an experienced stand-up comedian, and the heckling caused a meltdown. Richards, at Seinfeld's arrangement, will be on "Letterman" tonight to explain and to apologize. |

have you ever been to a real comedy club? Many acts are nothing but foul tirades. This one just happenned to end badly. Most of them don't.
The problem with racism in America is that people never really recognize it. People think that using the word N*gger or the word sp*ck is offensive racism. But that's not what racism is about in today's world. People think that as long as they avoid these terms, or if they get offended by these terms, then that must make them non-racists. But nothing can be further from the truth. IN fact, the people who are the most offended by these terms are some of the most racist.
Today's racism is subtle--its political. It's the reason why certain professions are dominated by white men and while others are dominated by black females. That's racism. This stuff that happens at comedy clubs is just fun. It's not even worth mentioning. |

no sh*t what he said was racist--so what?? it's a comedy club--the one place where you can say all kinds of racist things and have it be ok.
I have seen entire acts which consisted of nothing but racist statements. They are hilarious. I have heard every single racist epithet ever imagined and many which I wasn't even familiar with used during stand-up. That's how comedy works. If you dont like it, then don't goto a comedy club.
Stand-up comedy is for discerning people, not people who hear the "N-word" and automatically feel offended like a monkey pushing on a lever. Monkey hear, monkey feel. |

They were still laughing also. Some people, no matter what they do, cannot be taken seriously. It is a horrible curse, trust me. Maybe it was his odd manerisms, or his typecast character, who knows. |

Yea, he seemed a lot like Kramer, so I can see why some people didn't know whether to laugh or not. Some people in the audience probably hadn't seen the video and didn't understand he wasn't being satirical. |

I have been to a comedy club, I even had a black comedian point me out because of my perfect hair( :cry1: mostly gone now) and made jokes about it as if I were an affluent guy named Skip with a girlfriend names Buffy. It was funny it painted a mental caricature, with me as the inspiration, and I thought it was hysterical. the intent of the comedian was clearly to make everyone including me to laugh because of that he probably could have thrown in the terms cracker and still got a laugh. But when the objective is clearly not to make people laugh and rather is looking for a way to verbally strike out at others and one uses a term that has been widely used by the worst racists this county has endured. You put yourself in a class of people who are and should be shamed from public view. |

I don't know... I work in a place that is multiracial... and we goad each other everyday about it...and we laugh about it. Maybe it takes a certain maturity and self awareness not to take offense at it all. I'm not self absorbed and worried about what names people call me... I must be above that.
What Richards said shouldn't of been offensive to anyone but himself...
Color doesn't define a person... and neither does a racial name. To make this into anything more is an attempt to set divides. |
