That's what stand up comics do....
If Chris Rock started calling people Cracker then everyone would laugh. "Look at that Cracker ass. Cracker cracker cracker. Cracker-- we've got a cracker here." I'm fairly sure I've heard him actually say this. Ha ha, it's funny... at least people are laughing. But here with Richards the audience starts crying. They need to grow up.

Why does it offend you? He wasn't calling you any names. He was calling some hecklers names. Why does it offend you when you acknowledge that others doing the same to different people does not?
I don't believe I have ever uttered the words "I am offended".
Yeah I agree man, yeah if is was a black guy saying cracker ass to white people would you still be offended? |

| Cracker isn't bad at all. **** is probably the worse word we have. The two aren't comparable. |

He clearly wasn't saying what he said to be funny. He was pissed because he was heckled, and he took it out on them.
Unfortunately, people who aren't very bright go for the first thing they see about a person, to make fun of them. He saw their color.
f***ing disgusting pig.
His career was in the toilet anyway - I hope this finishes him. |

I know a guy who says he worked at this store Richards used to shop at. He says he is very disrespectful and rude and said "he wasn't surprised to see this sh*t come out". |

Says who? How are you measuring the "badness" of these two words?
By how much people are offended by it? Well people are f***ing stupid.
People offended by the N word mostly don't even know the origin of the word, just that racists have used it offensively, so now whenever someone dares to utter the word, they're racist... unless of course they are black... that's some logic.
If I said the N word out loud, in a conversation about Michael Richards (reporting the language he used), and someone next to me used the C word in an offensive manner, threatening a white person, which is worse? Honestly.
All the N word comprises of, when I look at the word, is of an alveolar phoneme, followed by a near-close near-front unrounded [ɪ] vowel sound, then a velar phoneme spelled with a double consonant, and a [ɛː].
That's it, there is no hidden message in the word that says "I hate black people", only the taboo people attach to it, the word means nothing if there is no hate behind it.
Now, as for Michael Richards, I do think it started as a joke, and then he became angry. I don't think it was racist, I just think he was expressing anger. Still, it was out of line. |

| It really bothers me that many black people use the N word non-stop. It sounds disturbing because it has so many connotations to it and it infurates me that they wear it as a badge of honour. |
