Just saw it. First Bond movie I've paid to see since, well, Roger Moore days, and I pretty much bailed on him too because the films became so silly.

Worth the price. One small part was painfully bad--my kid and I laughed and--but the new Bond inhabits the role. Great action sequences, particularly the first one. Dame Judith Dench is marvelous as "M."

Am eager to read the opinions of Bond afficianados after you've seen the film, especially those of you insist that From Russia with Love is the best Bond movie. (I don't think so, but then again, I'm not a guy.)

I loved it. This is Fleming's original vision, and I thought it was great.

The action scenes were awesome, and the raw power projected by Craigs was great. I thought the plot was pretty good, and while the film should have been half an hour shorter, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

If he can get a great plot to work with, Daniel Craig could be my new favourite James Bond (after Connery of course).

Bond movies are idiotic, or at least they became so when making a movie about james bond (who fought in ww2 according to the orginal stories and movies, which they keep in the plot when they feel like it) having his first mission is set in the modern day.

Here's what I think of Bond. James Bond:

:td: :td: ... And it goes on and on if I had more hands.

Anywho, all Bond movies have the same plot: in the beginning of the movie, it shows Bond on a mission with someone (special?). Then we are taken to MI-6, he gets his tools, then he goes on an adventure... picks up a girl, rescues her... goes on a vehicle chase... kills some bad guys... runs away with the girl... makes love to her... finds out that she's a real witch when she turns against him and sides with the bad guy, who Bond finds to be some old friend or accomplice or some old target or whatever... Bond runs away... finds another girl... teams up with her... goes to kill the bad guy and his ex... End of story.

Something original, for once...

And that's why Bond movies are awesome.

I admit that I was a Bond fan, but seeing that his movies are pretty much the same thing all over again, except with different characters, vehicles, etc., I don't see much to them, really. I'd rather watch something like The Last Samurai or Kingdom of Heaven.

Ditto.

And groundwork now neatly laid for Bond's--oh, I don't know, hedonistic sensuality? Cynicism about women?

I'm a big Bond fan from way back. This is the way Bond was meant to be and by basing it on an Ian Flemming novel the story is way better than anything that has come out since they stopped using the novels. (actually that was the last one they hadn't used)

this is no wimpy Bond! This guy is rugged. They didn't reel out all of the classic scenes with this one. They reset Bond to having just been promoted to 00 status. Something that they needed to do. It is a nice change for the Bond movies and Craig should do well if he continues to play the part.

I saw it on Friday night and thought the first huge chase scene in Madagascar was INCREDIBLE. Then it got cheesy and not as exciting and by the end I was ready to leave. Pretty creative plot, though, just kind of...meh, cheesy.

Yeah, the first action scene was amazing. There was one laugh-out-loud cheesy scene (oh, and fine, the shower-scene really was cheesy), but after all the silly stuff for which I've refused to pay for, oh, 20 years of Bond films, I'm still pretty thrilled by the emergence of a real new Bond and, perhaps, a real return to Ian Fleming's original intent.

I enjoyed Casino Royale a lot. Yea there were definately cheesy parts (the shower scene, MY GOD) but overall it was enjoyable. I wish they had used more of the Bond music though. I don't know if I was feeling that "YOU KNOW MY NAAAAAAAAME" song.

What are you talking about? That was from the original movie (a still shot) and while it was more than likely touched up.. it's more than ... what? 15 years old? He was much younger then. :?

I'm going to have to go see it, just to see the cheesy shower scene everyone is talking about.
