Hummm.... a whole thread dedicated to hatred....? that's impressive..

My answer would be maybe because at their core Christianity and Judaism hold part of the key to the abolishment of all hatred.

I can understand why some people love to hate .... However, perhaps if the core of these faiths was emulated ... millions of people would be at risk of loosing a reason to hate.

I wonder if the devil is playing a game with the world? Could there be a lesson in: "Release your anger, only your hatred can destroy me now" ?

I agree with this personally. However, some may hate them for their religion - usually those people are of another religion.
Religion seems to do that.

The question is why do some Christians often think they are persecuted? My theory is that their religion teaches them to feel persecuted.

I think the OP may be confused regarding the difference between 'hate' versus 'strong resistance'.

I'm not saying there are no haters of Christians and Jews.

If we're talking about the U.S., there are some very vocal Christians who complain and play the 'hate' card over ANY loss of power or resistance to their efforts to dominate the rest of society. I'm not saying it's all Christians, just some. The whole 'Christmas Tree' debacle of last year comes to mind.

As for persons of Jewish faith, there's an ongoing perception that they have a lot of control over the media and banking industries, and are using that perceived control to further some sort of agenda. Whether or not it's a valid perception is another matter.

Any group can get a bad rep from its members who over-reach. It doesn't mean they're representative of all or even most of the group.

I try to evaluate people as individuals, not according to their membership in some group. I won't say that I always succeed - but I'm at least committed to trying.

Well, Christians are obnoxious proselytizers. I don't personally know anyone who hates Jews though.

let me tell you a story my son...

in an uncertain town, in an uncertail viliage, in an uncertain home there lived an uncertain family... there was a mother, a father, and a son.

the mother loved her son, she cared for him, she absolutely adored him and showered him with attention..

the father disliked his son, he yelled at him all the time, ne nagged on him, didnt let him see his friends, he beat him, and if the mother wasnt watching, he'd let him go without food or water...

years later... when the son got older... he came home and found his mother had passed away in the night, silently in her sleep, he cried as he went to her funeral and burried her, and that was the last of her...

one year later... he comes home to find his father had passed away in his sleep... the boy is distrought, he whines, he cries all night, and when he has to burry his father his life is shattered and he claims he has no reason to live... and comes home, gets drunk, and shoots himself with his father's gun.

do you understand why?

the answer is very simple... his mother, kind to him and loving him for him, almost unconditionaly... but it was his father that he could not live without. Why? ... because his hate for his father is the only thing that kept him alive, kept him going, and kept him sane, and the world around him in perspective... it was not the love of his mother.

To make this clearer... without the jews, hitler would have been a sad little boy, runing around and screaming that the sky was falling... without the cold war soviets the US could not have raised such a religious and capitalisticaly aligned country, without the christian cult the emperors lions would starve and populace rebel...

A scape-goat is an ancient honor... because without it, leaders couldnt rule, religion would not exist, and the world would fall apart at the seams. If everyone believed that they were themselves responcible for their actions they would collapse and do nothing and so they need god, and when something good happens to them, its the work of god, when its something bad its the work of the devil... when its something better for one group of people than them... he sure isnt going to look at himself for his flaw...

God does not need evil to manifest in the universe in order for his grace, mercy and compassion to be realized.

However, evil knows all too well that it can freely exist in God's universe if good men do nothing.

The Russian wrote: To make this clearer... without the jews, hitler would have been a sad little boy, runing around and screaming that the sky was falling...

Well, since we're doing hypotheticals.... without Hitler, 6 million Jews would have survived and God would have been more glorified not to mention the positive impact that would have made on so many generations.

The Russian wrote: without the cold war soviets the US could not have raised such a religious and capitalisticaly aligned country,

Without Russia going communism, wow... so many possibilities to consider...

The Russian wrote: without the christian cult the emperors lions would starve and populace rebel...

Without the emperors and their lions, there would have been no need to starve the people or for the people to rebel. God would have been more glorified.

The Russian wrote: A scape-goat is an ancient honor... because without it, leaders couldnt rule, religion would not exist, and the world would fall apart at the seams.

The scapegoat is not God, Russian. The scapegoat is man and the control of man. God throughout history has always championed man's ability "to overcome and rise above the human condition." Religion, as noble as it may be intended, in the hands of ill-conceived agendas of men, has in the name or rightheousness taken over the control of the "overcoming process." God won't go away not just because man needs God, but also because God needs man.

The Russian wrote: If everyone believed that they were themselves responsible for their actions they would collapse and do nothing and so they need god,

Incorrect. If more men realized this, as millions on the planet already do, people would lead their lives with a greater sense and degree of accountability for their actions. And God and his spirit would be glorified by man and through man to a greater degree and this planet would mostly likely be in a much better place.

greeneye... I would write a long retort to different points in your arguement, but there would be no point as it would boil down to the fact that I'm an atheist, and you're a theist, and the original arguement falls apart at that.

Where as I do not believe in the kingdom of god, I believe in the kingdom of man... and while there exist both needs and wants, there will be strife.

To exist, man needs food, shelter, and a mate. A man wants to sample atleast all the food in the world, live in a home that can shelter more than just himself and his family, and desires more than one mate as both a biological principal, and an internal pleasure, because what is pleasure other than reward for biological prudency.

For as long as these forces are at war, and man desires more than is necessary to sustain him as a reflection of the want of domination or power, he will find those who oppose him. And to depose of any opposition one seeks reasons for the help of others do it for him and keep him in power, and so he shall concieve of a way to keep himself above others... as a biological instinct, gone awry in a society that has become communaley dependant on a certain quality of life. The larger we grow viliages, towns, countries, nations and continents, the more peoples help we need to stay in power, and the more people we need to convince that there exists a force, even if imaginary, in opposition to them and you, so to make it seem that in supporting you, they support themselves.

That's based on the assumption that the Jews didn't deserve it, which neither of us are able to confirm or deny.

Only a religious person could say something like that, and erase all the good meaning and glorious things he has done for the entirety of his life with one sentence. Thank you for showing me why I'm an atheist.

And people wonder why the pope was an anti-semite.

Who were you to live in germany in the 1940s and say that the whole-sale murder of your neighbors and friends was undeserved?

It is fascinating to me that such a hateful, obviously evil statement could be made by any one with the ability to use a keyboard.
