Wal-Mart accuses ex-senator of cutting in line for PS3

(AP) -- Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said Thursday that a staff member for former Sen. John Edwards -- a vocal critic of the retailer -- asked his local Wal-Mart store for help in getting the potential 2008 presidential candidate a Sony PlayStation 3. Edwards said a volunteer did so by mistake.

Edwards said that the volunteer "feels terrible" about seeking the game unit at Wal-Mart a day after his boss criticized the company, saying it doesn't treat its employees fairly.

The story is rediculous.

1. People get robbed and man gets shot over PS3 in line at WalMart
2. A fight broke out at Best Buy over PS3
3. Someone got shot with a BB gun while standing in line for a PS3
4. John Edwards "cuts in line" for a PS3

PS3 comes out and Americans start acting like they live in Gaza.

If it were up to me, I'd raise the terror alert to some ridiculously high color, and ban PS3

Then right after I banned it, I'd walk into a warehouse, pick up a PS3

And invite the news channels over, so they could film while I'm playing PS3 on the Plasma. :P

Wow... people sure are interesting aren't they? It's just a game system. I'm planning on getting a Wii myself. $600 for a game system? Especially when I only really want to play Metal Gear Solid 4? Yea, right.

I sure hope they don't try to blame this on gamers. We're not the one's out there paying 1400+ for this console on E-Bay. But yeah, the crime that has accompanied this is kinda crazy. Though if you think about the number of people standing outside for this thing, and the crime that has occurred because of it; it's not a huge deal. Still, I fear people can use this to paint gamers in a negative light.

Gamers no? In case you hadn't notice it's the same folks that cause all the problems at their children's sporting events.

Maybe that's how we solve the Iraqi Civil War?
Dump 25,000-50,000 PS3 systems on the market there and those wacky insurgents will get hooked on Metal Gear Solid 4 and forget to go out killing their fellow countrymen?

As for the John Edwards portion of this story I like to point out:
Quote: "My wife, Elizabeth, wanted to get a PlayStation 3 for my young children. She mentioned it in front of one of my staff people," Edwards said. "That staff person mentioned it in front of a volunteer who said he would make an effort to get one. He was making an effort to go get one for himself.
"Elizabeth and I knew nothing about this. He feels terrible about this.
He made a mistake, and he knows he should not have used my name," Edwards said.

So, I hope nobody continues harping on John Edwards "not wanting to wait his turn".

Well, if we gave Iraq PS3 for Christmas...err, which means that we'd also have to give them electricity too.

 There are 25 Million of them?

hmmm...

That'd be about 5 Million Playstations, if we did one per family that wasn't in a tent?

That's $300 Million dollars for the Playstations

Infrastructure for a stable and plentiful electric supply?

I'd guess around $1.2 Billion? to enhance what's there.

So for the cost of 1.5 billion dollars, those damn Iraqis' would be so busy shooting each other on PS3

It might save us 80 Billion dollars per year.

Wow....Edwards fails at life for even attempting to buy that joke of a system.

I've been unimpressed across the board by all three launches.

Yeah well.. not all parents are dumbasses. Take myself for instance.. I'm no dumbass parent. In fact I'm so mean, I don't even plan on getting my kids the PS3 till it's almost obsolete. Which will be in about a year from now.

*applauds* the rational parent.

In being "wise", I think there a lot of kids with PS3's this Christmas...that are missing out on a valuable example.

Yup, American values are "disturbing"

Recently I'd had the opportunity to explore the subject of American Literature.

The first university round, I hadn't had that opporutnity.

It's a beautiful thing, like err...Frederick Douglas and what an amazing man he was.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoureau and the Transendental experience.

How American Literature developed out of political propaganda? I'll never know? :P

The term "melting pot" and the concept that "Americans are special?"

Would you believe that both of those notions were forwarded by some French dude, who later sided with the British...and we ran his sorry croissant eating arse out of the country?

But later that stupid stupid French dude that thought we were "all that" finally returned after we burned his house down, and left his wife dead and rotting...returned to? Negotiate for America better trade deals abroad?

That guy must have been on crack.

On a side note.. this isn't the first time something like this has happened. At least not concerning John Q. Public.

Remember the "Cabbage Patch Kids" (the originals in the early 80's).. and remember "Tickle Me Elmo"... how about "Gameboy"?

Yeah.. people are stupid and this is a stupidity problem and nothing more. Any person here who believes it's a political thing, needs to have their head examined.. along with the people waiting in line for gaming systems. ;)

It is not the parents, ir is pure GREED. Have you seen Ebay today? it is flooded with PS3's at insane prices.

Also, I know for a FACT that all those WalMarts that only got "4-5" units and not the 12-24 promised, is because MANAGERS took the rest.
guess where they are now...

can you say Ebay?

What do you mean it isn't parents? It's not SOLELY parents.. but it's people in general. Greed is a human flaw.

It's greed yes.. but the greed of people. Ebay would not be what it is today if PEOPLE didn't use it. And yes, some of the people who are greedy are parents.

What exactly are you trying to state?

oh ur scaring me.

I had the very first uh handheld Game thingi'...all it would do is play football. I can't remember how much it cost? Maybe forty bucks?

"Tickle me Elmo"? err...."Grinch beats Elmo into the ground."

I think the difference might be? I never asked for the handheld gaming thingi'...my parents gave it to me.

My nephews? They'll ask for almost anything over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again! until their parents and/or other weak relative is beaten into some form of wallet submission.

Ever sat around and watched the newer Saturday morning advertising with the kids?

That crap is designed to encourage the kids to beat their parents into some form of wallet submission, by effectively communicating selling points, et. al.

I'd agree, it's not truly political. It's not even truly capitalistic.

IMHO...it's a sickness.

Wal-Mart accuses ex-senator of cutting in line for PS3

All the places that were in my area that had zero police intervention, had zero problems. The ones that had fights and absolute chaos: were ones where the police (stupid pigs) made people leave while camping out in line. Over 1000 people made a mad dash for the local malls, and the onerous American police caused the chaos. Government intervention is the main problem every person on this planet will have to dissolve before things can get better, and real freedom can flourish. As far as shooting people: That will happen regardless, and the onerous police can't stop it from happening. Just as they can't stop accidents with the state's onerous traffic ticket business, and that needs to be dissolved as well.
