First of all it’s nice to find a forum like this and I have read many of the posts and I look forward to posting myself.
Having read the terms and conditions on joining I agree that they read 100% common sense.
The idea behind these standard rules is to balance free and open debate and respect for individuals groups in society and religious groups.
It sounds simple but it’s much more difficult here is an example.
Being fat is a growing problem for a growing number of us.
Calling people names making fun of them or putting in rules to discriminate again them is quite wrong and any right thinking person should agree with this.
However being fat is also unhealthy and unattractive this is a true statement and when not used to single out the individual I think the balance here should fall with free speech.
On a political level the problems the world finds itself in these days are hard to discuss and it is so difficult to keep this balance.
In the middle east to which I have visited you have the two main religions Jew or Muslim.
For the Jews and the Muslims like every other group they suffer from the racist stereo types the mean Jew and the terrorist Muslim.
Having visited this area I can say from first hand experience that these stereo types for the most part do not really exist in the general population of either religion.
There are many Jews in the world and most of them are not rich likewise there are many more Muslims in the world and there are only a tiny number of terrorists.
While I have read up on the three main world religions Judaism Christianity and Islam I find reason to profoundly disagree with all three when taking to the extreme.
In the middle east oil land and pure greed of governments and big business are the real problem.
Bad people are bad people no matter what faith they wrap themselves up in and religious hate is a tool used to obscure this fact.
I like to get to know people and there religion is something of a non issue unless they try to ram it down my neck, in which case I have equal disrespect for all religion.
Disagreeing with big business and governments should not be offensive to anybody.
Free speech is under attack in my opinion .
If you disagree with the so called war on terror you are branded as a terrorist.
If you disagree with the land grabbing government of Israel you are branded anti Semitic.
And if you disagree with the anti women dictatorships in the middle east you are branded anti Islamic.
I must apologise for my long post but my point is if you speak the truth as you see it you stand a good chance of offending someone.
No matter how careful and fair you are you can be branded as a racist or a terrorist or whatever because the people causing problems in today’s world don’t want the truth spoken.
Religion is used to justify anything and also silence free speech.
However we should take a lesson from religion, money is the root of all evil.
Please discuss. |

While I am at odds with much of your post, I do believe that we should all take a lesson from religion. We should stop this madness and corruption that has riddled the MidEast and work towards creating a state free of corruption and freedom for those to do whatever they wish. |

| Stereotypes aren't anything new, nor is groups acting as though those stereotypes are accurate. |

Well I can agree with that.
I must tell you that I am from Ireland and I have some understanding of the situation in your part of the world.
To live any kind of a life must be a struggle. |

I know the Irish matter myself as well, and have been following it. It's why I wish Ireland and all other nations that were under colonialist occupation will remain free... and wish that many more nations still under occupation will also be free. |

Thank you for that.
The world is not a nice place and some places have had it really hard like your land.
Free people should not need a government.
Humans have a long way to go still. |

Do you disagree with the way the war is being fought on terror, or the principle of fighting terrorism? |

| Don't worry about idiodic tags, just tell your opinion in a reasonable manner. People are going to give you slack on almost any opinion you give on anything. |

Absolutely true! No matter what side of the debate you are on, or your political perspective. You will find a person holding a differing view. 99.9% of the people on this forum are polite. But in saying that, you better have some broad shoulders. |
