Quote: Today's Blue Dogs expressed satisfaction that Pelosi had included in her agenda for the first 100 hours of the new Congress the adoption of a rule requiring that all legislation to cut taxes or increase spending be accompanied by provisions that would prevent the deficit from growing.

Spend and barrow republicans are going to scream of course, but a restoration of the democrats policy of fiscal sanity is an absolute must fist step to repairing the damage the GOP did to our country. |

Who ever would have guessed 30 years ago that those words would need to be uttered? |

So, we have a bill.
In that bill, we have a provision that increases education funding.
So, also in that bill would have to be a provision either raising taxes, i.e. cigarette taxes, or cutting funding, i.e. a cut from a Housing and Urban Development program |

What would really impress me is a commitment by either party to begin paying down the debt.
Which translates into actually making a principle payment.
If in the next two years, the Democrats wipe out the deficit and make an actual principle payment. I don't care if it's just one dollar. I'd be willing to vote for them again. |

So, in other words, Pelosi is stating she won't propose new tax cuts or propose any new spending bills or allow the current tax cuts to expire since the deficit is going down?
Why would Blue Dogs be dissatisfied with that? Did they just see all their new pork projects go bye bye? |

Uh, it says the Blue Dogs were satisfied, not dissatisfied, so I'm not getting the point you were making. |

"Provisions" means raising taxes pure and simple. And when the tax cuts expire I can already count out at least $500 on my child tax credit. :1evil: And that's just the start. Luckily the Dem Congress has less power than the GOP one did. And thankfully there is an anti-tax raise man in office.
By the way, who exactly do we owe our debt to? |

Being a working mother you mostly likely make out better for taxes under the democrats. Their stance is generally to favor the middle income brackets. However the republicans have wasted a surplus and left us with a heavy debt that needs to be paid
Our debt is owed to every nation that buys US bonds, mostly China and Japan i think right now. |
