How is any conservative able to reconcile events such as the one currently exposed with the idea that Fox is “fair and balanced” or that Fox is even a reputable news organization?

the alphebet stations dont? Are you going to evidence what is a clear claim, or are you going to continue to act as though an antagonistic and vacuous statement is vindicated by merely being waged without support?

I can think of a few examples of negligence, Dan Rather and his story on Bush, however, they took accountability for this situation and people lost their jobs. Is Fox taking accountability for this?

THey're biased, it's not exactly news. And they're unlikely to admit it since that would be likely to reduce their profit.

All news organizations are biased, especially if you have different views than them. To me, MSNBC is biased as h*ll towards anti-americanism so I take what they report with a grain of salt just as I do any news organization.

Also, using the Huffington post to call Fox news biased is about like asking a muslim is Isreal should exist.

What Rather did was totally fabricate a story that had not a shred of truth to it. Fox had a memo sent to it's reporters to look out for evidence that would support a certain story they had planned, which is not doing something wrong as the story has truth to it to begin with.

As far as I am concerned CBS is far worse than Fox, the only reason they even admitted wrong doing is because they were busted red handed and all they did was fire some scapegoats. That does not make up for a history of yellow journalism.

NBC is also far worse than Fox.

Umm...I didn't see the problem with the internal memos at all. I don't see what the big fuss is about. So what if Fox News is looking out for insurgents celebrating a Dem win or stating that just because the Dems won the election that the WoT isn't over. I don't see how this can really be all that controversial. They aren't making up the news, they'll on the look out for a certain type of news. The rest of the media does the same when they look for the bad and ignore the good.

Some of it's editorial commentators are conservative, but they really have a pretty good balance of both sides of the story because they invite all sorts of really good guests to interview, and they have guys like Dick Morris (former Clinton consultant) or Juan Williams (NPR) etc who are regular commentators. Alan Colmes comes out pretty strong for the liberal side of the story on Hannity and Colmes, and he's no light weight. You get to see much more political commentary from both sides of the aisle on Fox than you do at the other networks.

So you may see some heated debate on Fox but I think you get a clearer picture of the contraversy that is a part of every news story these days and in this way get a better picture of what is going on. At some of the other networks they report their biased view as if it is pure fact and they don't really examine the other side.

So basically the idea that Fox is some really biased right wing propaganda distributor is not really accurate. That is a biased statement to make because what they do is report both sides of the aisle, while the others don't.

Somebody find that report where Media Matters (I think it was) found that they had a ratio of something like 8 to 1 Republicans to Democrats on Fox, and how they'd let conservatives on alone, but if a liberal was on they'd have to have a conservative counterpoint

Who needs an explanation? You have to make a case that the memo is wrong in some way first! John Moody runs the editorial direction for Fox News. Not the News - the editorials. Just like every newspaper has editorial pages, and how ever other news organization has editorials.

However, in this case, he is telling Fox news programs to look for stories that would hurt the Dems, and make the Republicans look good. That's the bias. Bias does not mean lying to the public. Bias is how you spin it. While whether or not those stories are "right" or "wrong" is debatable, to deny that Fox News is biased to the right is absurd.

Try reading all the links next time there cap’n crunch, they not only put out a memo telling reporters to keep an eye on Muslim extremists celebrating a Democratic victory, they actually had a piece on just that the next day.
