Agreed. But no doubt there will those who will defend him and his beliefs.
It's truly sad. Too bad these idiots bring in ratings for these networks. |

| Oh man, do I ever loathe Glenn Beck. To him "Politically Incorrect" = retarded stereotypes. If he ever says "Gimme five minutes to be politically incorrect here", that usually means he's going to ask if Muslims want to kill everyones families, or if blacks are more inclined to violence or something |

Blacks are more inclined to violence, but what does that have to do with this thread? |

I don't often come to the defense of CNN, but we have to allow people to speak their minds, however ignorant the words that come out may be. You don't make progress on racial prejudice by forbidding people to have certain thoughts. You make progress through communication and open conversation.
Hypersensitivity is not a virtue. |

Just like how they let Maher simply say that he thought Ken Mehlman was gay, like they let Beck say he wants this guy to prove he doesn't work for the enemies? |

The fact that, in speaking with the first Muslim ever elected into congress, he asks Ellison that he is “nervous” about the interview because he “feels” that a legitimate question for Ellison would be “prove that you are not working with our enemies.” Beck “feels” this, and goes on to claim that “a lot of Americans will feel that way” because Ellison is a Muslim who – as do many Americans – opposes the war in Iraq and calls for a with-drawl of American troops. |

"BECK: OK. No offense, and I know Muslims. I like Muslims. I've been to mosques. I really don't believe that Islam is a religion of evil. I -- you know, I think it's being hijacked, quite frankly.
"With that being said, you are a Democrat. You are saying, "Let's cut and run." And I have to tell you, I have been nervous about this interview with you, because what I feel like saying is, "Sir, prove to me that you are not working with our enemies."
he's talking about leaving iraq as being with the enemy. not him being muslim. |

Hypersensitivity is not a virtue. There is a stark difference between having a rational discussion as opposed to letting bigots spout prejudice and ignorance on the airwaves. Are you suggesting that the KKK should have a television spot? It would make for a more thorough and open conversation. |

Neither is bigotry. Except maybe to CNN and a few others who insist on defending Beck's words.
Hypersensitivity? WTF does that mean? How does one make "progress" with what Beck said? What he said was disgusting. He basically played the fear card regarding terrorism, and aimed it squarely at demonizing a newly elected member of the U.S. Congress, who happens to be a practicing Muslim. Beck has made fun of Muslim names and Mulsim culture in the past, so at least he's being consistent. |

Are you saying people in search of knowledge and understanding should just keep quiet until more Muslims are elected into Congress?
I'd call him a bigot if he accused him of working with our enemies because he's a Muslim, but he didn't do that. He asked him a silly, yet valid question. He was also respectful about it. |

So let Maher be Maher. I didn't give a rat's behind whether Bill Maher thinks Ken Mehlman is gay or not and I'm sure Mehlman's not losing any sleep over it.
I don't think Jimmy the Greek should have been canned for his ignorant statement either. |

I don't really fault CNN in airing that...they should. Free Speech. But the fact that they cut out the thing with Maher is hypocritical to me.
And even though I think that Beck should be allowed to say it, that doesn't mean I can't think he's a moron |

How is asking an American Muslim if he's working with our enemies a valid question, because anyone with half a brain new damn well Beck was specifically referring to those brown skinned terrorists?
I guess bigotry is a virtue to some. |

Quote: BECK: I understand that. And I'm not asking you to. I'm wondering if you see that. You come from a district that is heavily immigrant with Somalians. And I think it's wonderful, honestly, I think it is really a good sign that you are a -- you could be an icon to show Europe, this is the way you integrate into a country. I think the Somalians coming out and voting is a very good thing. With that --
ELLISON: I'd agree with you.
