then why don't you enlighten us with your impartial view on this matter? or are you just driveby trolling?
you need to reread my previous post.

That simply is not accurate according to the press release issued by the university (which some of you will brush off as a pack of lies, simply because it doesn't conform to your belief that all cops are pigs, and all authority figures lie).
According to the officers and witness around BEFORE people started video taping, the young man in question refused to leave. Period. When the officers tried to escort him out, he went limp, pulled up his feet and fell to the floor. He refused to get up and began asking onlookers to "join his resistance." That's when he was tazed for the first time.
Again, repeated tazing was probably excessive, but was apparently in accordance with UCLA policy.
Please read the available information before passing on incorrect statements as fact: CNN story
"...Campus police say he refused to show his student ID and refused to leave the building when asked. Police said they shocked him with the stun gun after he urged others to join his resistance and a crowd began to gather...."
As for the suggestions others have made that he was being treated like a terrorist, "...Students at the news conference said there was no sign that Tabatabainejad was targeted because of his ethnicity. But his lawyer disagreed...." A show of hands by those who are surprised that his lawyer disagreed! I mean for a third of a fat settlement, I'd disagree too! |

we both agree police used excessive force in this incident and the student will be rewarded with a modest amount of compensation in despite of the discrepancy in the stories. i also stand by my statement that tazer is for imminent threats, not for non-compliance. |

Restrictions, by your own admission, are needed, so what are you talking about? The inability to use a tazer in this case would have done nothing to prevent them from doing their job.
not allowing them to follow through with their jobs goes beyond restriction.
The Grandmaster wrote: Ask yourself this, it will make it very easy. What if these 4 cops did not have their precious tazer in this case? I suppose they would have been helpless to remove this guy, and he would have run around rampant killing everyone..
they would have had to force him to the ground another way. |

Irritated law enforcement personnel with weapons are dangerous animals. Just ask the survivors of the bachelor party massacure in the Queens section of New York City over the weekend. Of course, the vast majority of the time, they will not be held accountable for their actions. In a society where the police and the military are viewed as special entities, let the public beware!

They must have asked this kid 200 times to stand up . He should get a brain transplant at the very least.
The police must command the respect of a simple request to leave the building. This kid could have anything from a gun to a bomb on his person and if i was a police officer i would expect compliance.(you have to think that way if your an officer) They did not ask him to cut his ears off, only to leave peacefully. Which he choose not to do. |
