other. I'd watch it because I've never seen it before, and if I like it, I'll continue to watch it.

I would want to watch it at least once- if only to see what it was like.

When all is said and done, you just can't beat brand recognition.

I'd watch it.

FYI, al Jazeera is one of the most trusted news sources.

Yahoo! News wrote: One-quarter of consumers abandoned a news source over the past year because they lost trust in its reporting, according to a new survey that also found the BBC, Fox News and Al Jazeera the most trusted brands in their respective home regions.

I would watch it just for another perspective but I would regard it as the corporate media, mostly spin and propaganda.

I haven't looked yet, but based on what I've seen in their documentary about covering the Iraq invasion, Control Room, and the things I've read on their website, I'd be more willing to watch this than any American news network. Of all mass media organizations, nobody can touch them in the middle east for accuracy and detail.

People should understand that the US government has previously praised the network as a liberalizing force in arab world, which it definitely has been. The pro-terrorist allegations really began when their cameras started showing the horrors of the Iraq war. If it's biased coverage, it's hard to say who it's biased against since they show all the ugliness regardless of who's responsible.

I highly recommend that documentary, BTW. The footage they got of the fall of the Saddam statue must be seen to be believed. It's amazing.

I would watch because I am interested in perspective and understanding.
I also feel one should know thy enemy.

I'll watch it, and obviously take it with a grain of salt. Maybe if one were to watch it back to back with Fox, and picked the point directly in the middle of the two you might fine an essence of truth.

Btw, for any of those looking for the website, make sure you don't accidentally go the the Aljazeera. com site. It's not affiliated with the news channel, and I believe they had a lawsuit over the domain name. It's SO incredibly biased that it might be worth a giggle though.

Al Jazeera English news website is very professional and reliable - not at all what the neocrazies would have you believe. It even has a surprisingly western feel to it. If their new news channel is as good, it will be a hit. I need to call my television programming provider and ask if they have room for the 501st channel.

Check out Real Alternative. It's a codec that will let you play Real content on the old Windows movie player.

I would watch it on because the best way to win a war is to know your enemy. Know what kind of propoganda you have to deal with and what their mentality is so it is easier to eliminate them.

USAToday had an article on this yesterday. One the interviewees talked about how a lot of western journalists (some from CNN, some from BBC, some from other places) were working with Al-Jazeera on this project. It is hoped that some part of Edward R. Murrow will rub off on Al-Jazeera.

...it's not actually run by Al-Queda, you know.

You do know that, right?

It's based in Doha, Qatar, which is an interesting place to look at these days. Apparently the Emir is pretty reform-minded (at least by Middle Eastern standards).
