|
|
John Edwards was on the The Daily Show the other day. He wouldn't announce he's running right there but he said he'd get back into politics "if the job was right". He said to check his website in the next couple of weeks for announcement.
Is he the best democratic candidate out there to run ? |

I wouldn't say Edwards is the BEST...but he'd definently get far I think. You're looking at around 10-12 2008 candidates all together when it's all said and done. Al Gore has denied that he wants to run again, but that could change. Kerry may try again, but I don't see him getting the nom at all. Obama may run as well as Clark. |

I like him, but it depends on who else is running.
My dream ticket:
McCain/Lieberman
Unfortunately, that will never happen... |

He's not the best, but he's a southerner for one thing. It would depend on who's running with him.
EDITED TO ADD: If things like where he's from didn't matter, I don't know how I'd feel about it. |

WHY can't two Republicans run on the same ticket? |

| Of the current hopeful candidates Barrack Obama is the only one I would concider voting for. Edwards is not much different from Kerry and Gore just another party hack. |

I'd definitely support Obama, though whether or not everyone would be willing to vote for a black candidate is unfortunately something debatable, unfortunately. :( |

I hope I live to see a black person in the Whitehouse or any other minority as far as that goes. I would be more likely to vote for a minority candidate because it would make ignorant racists squirm  |

| Obama won't win if he runs in '08, and race will have nothing to do with it. |

Yes. Him and Barack Obama, but I would bet more on Edwards than Obama.
All the other dems are either "dark horses" or are very polarizing people who could never win nation-wide, these 2 are for the most part populists. |

| Personally, I'd vote for Obama unless there was a Libertarian candidate that I agree with more and I''d bet that there will be. |

This is a HUGE problem in this country; people vote for who they think will win or the "lesser of the two evils" but they REFUSE to vote for who is actually the best candidate for office.
When people can get away from the "duopoly", this country will become a much better place; there are other options but they won't be realized until people actually vote for them. That is truly sad in a country such as ours... |

If he's the best then we're all in trouble. A trial lawyer with limited political experience as president? The Dem's would have to be loonies to put up someone like Edwards. :gdgf: |

I don't know. He has a nice, vaguely-pro-social wife, that has to count for something.
And he hasn't ignored uganda, despite not running for Senator in '04 (he may have been otherwise occupied).
He's been really beating feet to get himself out there, door to door and as a speaker and as a democratic chap on TV.
And he's really been working hard at the social issues. He doesn't have much foreign policy experience, it's true, but then neither did one governor of Texas. But on topic, he's really been doing his homework and working outside of government on poverty, homelessness, education and healthcare.
So yeah, I'd vote for him. I won't make an un-back-uppable statement like "he's the best" but he's certainly not a bad choice. |

How do you know?
Because he's a first-term senator. His inexperience will be his downfall if he ran for president. |
