Quote: The Xbox Live® multiplayer public beta, which is a pre-release version of the multiplayer experience of “Halo 3,” is scheduled for availability in spring 2007
I didn't see this one coming. Although I think it's a good move because Halo sells consoles.

]Full release + Pic

I'm sure we've got some Halo fans here so anyone plan on participating?
I certainly do.

An apparently free open beta for Halo 3 is great news.

Care to link to that? That's not my post.

Making up quotes is pretty lame.

There is your link... here is your whole post. Don't worry I took a screenshot.

not big on Doom, not big on Quake.

I like soldier games like the Medal of Honor series and Call of Duty.

But back onto subject, I'm excited about this Halo 3 beta. If anyone has the EGM Mag it has a 10 page spread or so about it. Sounds pretty cool. They are adding some new laser weapon and some Brute SMG.
Also the little ATV is apparently making it into the 3rd Halo (rumored to be the last of the series).
Anyone read the books?

Ok... were you lying at the time or something? What does it matter what date it is... you declared Halo was loved by you.

So anyways here is a link to the high res pic: http://screenshots.teamxbox.com/screen-hires/54780/Halo-3/

Anyone ready to use those "man cannons" in the new Blood Gulch? I know this guy is... :)

It ended with Halo 2 being nothing but a commercial for 3 and being basically exactly the same game as the original with new maps, which is what Halo 3 will be.

the campaign was horribly disappointing and the Live play is worthless.

FCTE was complaining that the graphics on the box were better than the actual in-game graphics. What a noob!

The original PC version was great at the time of that post, but Halo 2 was a huge disappointment. There is no flip flopping, that post is nearly three years old.

Are you serious?
Halo 2: Dual wielding, new warthog, new weapons, new vehicles, new enemies, new areas to fight in, new story (If you recall you don't play as an elite in the 1st one), etc.
What did you want them to get rid of the MasterChief and put you fighting cyborgs from mars? This is a sequel of course it's going to carry over quite a bit of the same things from the original. However to say it's exactly the same is a bit blind to the obvious. Also if you could be bothered to read up on Halo 3 you'll see it's getting, new vehicles, new maps, new weapons, etc...
As for it beign a commerical for Halo 3... it's a series. I guess any series is a "commercial" for their sequels.

This is quite a flip flop I am sorry to say.

Also if you loved Halo... wouldn't you love Halo 2 if it was the exact same? That makes no sense that you hate Halo 2 when you stated your love for Halo one and then went on to claim that Halo 2 was the exact same.

Care to show a link to Halo 2 promised graphics that were not delivered?

Why do you feel the campaign was disappointing?
As for Live! being worthless there has been 500 Million Halo 2 online games played These numbers are from this past June.

The original Halo had a good story line and aside from going through the same maps every other level it was a good all around camapign.

Halo 2's campaign was short and obviously nothing but a teaser for Halo 3 since it just ended with a "to be continued" feel without having a real ending. They focused all of the effort into the Live aspect and skimped out on the actual game leaving way more to be desired.

What new weapons? What new Warthog? it was all the same sh!t, Oooooooooo dual wielding weapons, whoopity do.

I don't want to play buy the same game over with a new title and cover, that is why Halo 1 is good and Halo 2 is not.

I and being basically exactly the same game as the original
Halo 2 was nothing like CE. Halo 2 was much, much, much worse.

Microsoft focused on hype and didn't deliver. They had a good game and dropped the ball banking on the fact that the first one did well and the second will sell no matter what. It happens all the time with sequels to anything.

The Halo franchise is dead.
