Is it okay for Americans to question the American leadership and the actions of other Americans and still be allowed to call themselves Americans?

I'll tell everyone why I asked these questions after I get a few answers. Its NOT an attack on anyone at all, so please don't think that I'm trying to bait you into anything.

Thanks everyone! :flwr:

Well since the questions are based upon a fallacy, why should we bother to answer.

They are actually allowed to call themselves anything they want. I question some of the American leadership, always have, and I call myself an American.

Why don't you start over and try to be clearer on this.

Are you saying that some may call them anti-American?

Then it depends on what they are saying and doing.

It certainly is "against this countries security and vital interests" that we win this war so in light of that, I would say that certain positions taken by Americans over the last decade would definitely qualify as "taking positions that are against American security and vital interests."

I guess that depends on what exactly makes one a "Christian". I mean, I can go around calling myself a tree, and there's not a whole lot anyone could do to stop me, but it wouldn't really be true.

Do I think questioning Christian leadership is a decidedly unchristian thing to do? Perhaps, seeing as the whole Christianity thing is based on belief without proof.

I would say it is unAmerican NOT to question the actions of leadership.

Why do I think these questions were aimed at getting a specific answer?

Oh, a "yes" or "no" would have been okay. That's as specific as I was looking for. But someone told me about a thread about me while I was gone and I went in and checked it out. One of my old nemesis' was in there tossing his old garbage about me and my religioun/ethnicity. I just felt compelled to put into people's minds in here that just because someone is Muslim or Arab doesn't mean that they have to follow the lead of what other Muslims or Arabs do or say. I framed it in the Christian/American way so that people could better understand what I've tried to explain over and over to no avail.

I see you used the Homer thing I sent you!

To be honest, I find that most people that consider themselves Christian and then decide to question thier beliefs, often times they decide that they are no longer Christian. I don't think you're really talking about questioning your beliefs, though. From what I understand, your point is that not all Muslims are out for jihad just because some Muslims may be? I would agree with that sentiment, whole heartedly.

A good analogy would be that some Christians view militant actions to force thier view upon others, ie shooting doctors that perform abortions, as following their faith, while other Christians see that as insanity.

PS. thanks for the Mr. Sparkle pic...it really makes my posts stand out. :-D

The questioning of authority is what keeps authority from becoming all dominating and is the duty of the members of any group to do so....fraud and corruption and abuse of power happens BECAUSE PEOPLE DON"T.....question what goes on....

The root of being an american is standing up and saying WTF...I question the morals and ethics of those who don't say anything

So in other words, you don't have an answer.
