The guy looks and acts more like a Bond bad guy than 007 himself.

What were they thinking casting this guy??

He's not debonaire (sp) or classy.

He looks angry and diabolical.

Haven't seen the movie, so I can't really judge, but I will say that Bond was never intended to be a nice guy. In fact, while I enjoyed Brosnan, that was his major fault: Bond is not that classy, he's not that nice, and he's really not all that good of a person.

Dalton was the worst actor out of all the Bonds, but he got the character down just right.

I think this is gonna be one of the best Bonds, and that this actor will be great.

Resident James Bond expert here. the new Bond Movie is an attempt to move the series back in the direction of the way the original character was written. The title "Casino Royale" is the last full novel that hasn't been used that was writen by Ian Flemming. I haven't been into the Bond stuff for several years I haven't followed this new movie too much but I do plan on seeing it. Not sure how close they will follow the novel.

I think it is a good direction to go in, the Bond movies have been washed out by the Character becoming too soft lately IMO.

The Character that Flemming wrote was Was hard edged and cold. He didn't fall in love with the women he bedded.

They might get it right this time but I wouldn't bet on it.

I agree about the new actor, he seems too unpolished to be 007.

He looks more like 006...

From what I've seen of the movie (previews), reviews I've read, and other reading I've done on this new actor and the new direction that this movie is taking in terms of Bond (old school), which is for the better.

The current producers however have weakened the series quite a bit with gawky one liners and too much reliance on gadgetry. Also a Bond that had become way too sensitive. I hope it works out and Bond can go back to being atop the action movies but at this point I don't have faith in the current producers. They might get it right though you never know.

Ironically, this film is largely about Bond doing exactly that: falling in love with a woman. The problem with the newer Bond movies isn't that he shows too much emotion, but that the emotions he did show were limited in scope, and never really reflected the nasty, brutal side that really defines Fleming's characters.

I've always contended that if you mixed Sean Connery and Timothy Dalton together, you'd get the best Bond. And that is how I see Daniel Craig. If you've ever seen the movie Layercake, you know he knows how to act. And I really think he's going to bring out the best part about Bond - the fact that he isn't a good person, and knows it.

Oh, and by the way, I know everybody in the world seems to hate Timothy Dalton, but I thought Licence to Kill was a wicked movie.

Favourite Bond Flicks: Dr. No, Goldfinger, Live and Let Die, Licence to Kill, Moonraker

Most Disliked: The last two films, The Living Daylights, On Her Majesty's Secret Service

What were they thinking casting this guy??

He's not debonaire (sp) or classy.

He looks angry and diabolical.

Haven't seen it and don't want to. I liked the goodlooking Bonds, and agree that the debonaire and classy in a tuxedo was a nice contrast to the action figure. The humor was also important.....

Apparently they want to attract the Governator crowd only.?

Apparently they want to attract the Governator crowd only.? Humor is fine but the near slapstick we have seen lately is what has propelled the 007 series down to the mediocre of action films. IMO and that of most Bond fans is that it has diminished the character.

I would agree that from the previews the new Bond does not appear to have the debonaire quality to him and in the Flemming novels he was a mixture of a cold hard personality with the refined debonaire look.
