I'm creating this thread under the » Politics & Government Forum because in part, the discussion should center around Politics & Government, especially since the President and Congress that shall be elected into office in 2008 will be the Government in power on December 21 2012.

Having explained that, this topic ( I hope ) will discuss much more than simply » Politics & Government.

After dinner tonight I went and sat on the couch in front of the television.
As you may well understand, I have followed the Political events of recent yet, I found myself burnt-out on it.
So I went channel surfing and came upon a program on the History channel about the Mayan Calender and an associated prophecy attached to December 21 2012.
I'll post a brief quote below before continuing.

3. The Mayan fifth world finished in 1987. The sixth world starts in 2012.
So we are currently "between worlds". This time is called the "Apocalypse" or revealing.

Now, not really knowing or understanding much about this subject, naturally I searched for reference material.

One of the most talked about dates in our future seems to be centered around one date. December 21, 2012.

I hope I haven't lost any readers ! I'll be making my point shortly.

OK, I know that's probably long winded without an understanding of the reason I have made this post so,
I'll get to my original point.

You as an Individual may discount any or all of the above yet, there are Millions if not Billions of people who in one way or another believe that an event or series of events will serve to change this planet and all that lives upon it, leading up to this date or upon reaching this particular date in our history.
I would like to begin a discussion, not necessarily about the precise date but regarding where we as a species are heading. As I mentioned in the beginning of this thread, the Government of these United States elected in the next major election of 2008 will be the Government that guides this Nation forward towards the date of December 21 2012.



It seems to be on the minds of many, possibly some Mankind hasn't become acquainted with yet. :wink:

Let us leave behind the flames and partisan bickering for the plethora of other threads on this forum.
Let's use just this one tiny thread to discuss beneficial ways forward together.
Perhaps we utilize the impetus of the looming date of December 21 2012 ?
Whatever can get us together without the name calling or the blame game, let's prove to ourselves that we can come together on common ground issues.

I'll end this original post here and simply say, I hope this will serve to spur us all to truly look at the world we all share and come to a consensus that we must work together if we are to survive as a species.
