When I was in high school we had a lot of required readings that some may find objectionable...but, not a single parent complained.
Bram Stoker's Dracula
1984
The Slaughterhouse Five
Catcher in the Rye
And...yes...
Farenheit 451
God....those people are overreacting. |

basically what this guy found objectionable is what most people are _supposed_ to find objectionable, and basically what the book is getting across, that a world without books is objectionable
they just didnt get it, perhaps it should be explained to them better
 nice post....... |

Wow. I don't think anyone's ever bitched and moaned and whined about certain "objectionable" books in my state schools. I personally never read any of these books in high school because we were reading a whole lot of other stuff. |

This is rather intresting:
56 most frequently challeged book of the ninties James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl- About fruit that magically enlarges, and has lots of magical creatures, adventures, and stuff like that.
57 most frequently challeged book of the ninties The Anarchist Cookbook by William Powell- about primative 80s computer hacking devices, how to make drugs, and how to make IEDs. The online version of somthing similar was used in the Columbine trajedy.
19 Sex by Madonna- What do you think the most sexually unstable person known would tell impressionable small children.
5 The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain- About why racicism s*cks.
87 Private parts by Howard Stern- Look at his show for any ioda of time and think about it for a second.
41 To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee- About why racicism s*cks and shows moral values that are lacking in today's society
88 Where's Waldo?- It is challenged because it shows a naked boob. If you cannot find Waldo, then how the hell are you supposed to find a boob.
Compare the pairs of books and descriptions I have listed. As you can see, what the hell is up here. |

Wow, your school pwnzered. I haven't read Dracula, but the others are excellent. Nice reading list, IMO. |
