ok, this is, in a way, off topic.
But no other topic fitted what i had to ask.
I am 16, I live in texas...
and I am completley ignorant of all polotics.
I've been told that I am democratic. But What does that mean to me?
Could someone, please, someone help me merge myself into this world of politics and begin to understand some of it?
thanks.

Well...where do you stand on issues? Size of government can be a basic indicator. Maybe try some political tests online and see what they say. They aren't always right, but they can give you an idea.

Centrist. As this 10 question survey says.
Though that is nice to know. Thats not all I am searching for here.
My main problem is, I know nothing at all of our government. let alone anyone elses.
difference between democratic monarch and a democracy....
Is there such thing as a democratic monarch?
Why is it such a big deal the senates majority is now democratic.
What DO republicans stand for
what do DEMOCRATS stand for.
When I say I know nothing.
I know nothing.

Well, I would suggest that when you take government class in high school, pay very close attention. You're asking for a lot of information, and it's hard to give it all.

Basically, the Senate has representatives from each states equally, while the House of Representatives is based on each state's population. These form the legislative branch of our government. Our government is not a direct democracy, it is a republic. The two other branches are the executive and judicial, which are the President and the courts, respectively.

Republicans basically stand for lower taxes, smaller government, and more conservative beliefs (more religious).

Democrats stand for higher taxes, larger government, and more liberal, or open, beliefs.

Again, these are very basic generalizations, and not nearly all Republians or Democrats are the same, and also, being a conservative does not equal being Republican, as being liberal does not equal being Democrat.

The two main measures of liberalism and conservatism are social and economic values. An XY graph from a quiz with those two values will show you were you are.

Sorry I skipped out on a lot, I have hw to finish :P (btw I'm a 17 y/o highschool student, just a year older than you, and I used to be clueless too, just get into politics and you'll have fun :tu:)

Here is the very best test I've ever seen. It really nails it down pretty accurate.

I think you'll find this one fun. Take that real fast and report back. It will give a good idea of your basic standing.

I call bulls**t on that one. The Republican government is not smaller, or with lower-taxes than a democratic one. Even my dad, a hardcore republican, admits this. Republicans just spend it on different things.

I'm not talking about in practicality, I'm talking about in general theories.

What leads you to believe that Republicans are more religious than Democrats?

There are worse places to learn, really. A nice cross-section of society here, from many different countries.
