Quote: Saddam Hussein sentenced to death
Saddam Hussein has been convicted of crimes against humanity and sentenced to death by hanging.
The former Iraqi president was convicted by a Baghdad court for his role in the killing of 148 people in the mainly Shia town of Dujail in 1982.
Linkage
So the USA invaded Iraq, so they could catch & convict Saddam of murdering less that 150 people.
This pre-election day PR, was brought to you by the Reblican Party, who are fighting democracy around the world, and creating new terrorist, with every breath we take. |

Just think of it as a silver lining.
Whatever the problems in Iraq- as well as the issues that I have with the people that planned it- Saddam committed acts of genocide. For that he should die, cleanly, quickly and in the full sight of the law.

Well 'Bunny' are aware that there are/were 13 other trails scheduled against Sadam for genocide? If not you are now.
It only takes/needs one rope to hang anyone. Some of the Nazis in the Nuremburg trials were convicted of a few murders but the world knew they had been responsible, in some cases, for the deaths of tens of thousands.
You don't 'like' the fact that Sadam had to be stopped. The IAEA reports say he was within a year of having a nuclear bomb. What do you think the ME would have been like if he had remained in power AND had a nuke? |

Not just you -- You just hear about them more. But the media has the atrocities pretty well documented, and they are far worse than what's happened since Saddam fell.
So no, it was worse then. |

Bottom Line:
The guy commited, was tried for, and was found guilty of crimes against humanity. Under Iraqi law, you commit these crimes, you hang.
Justice is being served.
Kinda like if you steal a car in Belgium, and the law says you go to jail for 5 years. (hypothetical) That means you go to jail for five years. Its pretty simple. |

Justice demands a fair trial. This was not such a trial.

The trials of Belgian car thieves aren't cut short before the defense has made its case.
As far as I know. |

Well according to Manfred Nowak, a UN investigator on cases of torture, torture and violence are now worse in Iraq than under Saddam Hussein! Now you have the police, army, insurgents, militias, americans and british carrying out acts of torture and violence whereas before it was mostly Saddam, who is only one oppressor, not 6! |

Iraq invasion brought far more deaths and turned so many lives into miserable state than Saddam ever did. His crimes pale in comparision of what mr. Bush did since 2003.
Now Iraq is at risk of civil war, where thousands of lives will be lost, all for US ambitions and fake WMD claims. Saddam is a scum and will be remembered as such, but those who removed him from his throne are much worse. |
