This is just classic. This guy is (was) president of the National Association of Evangelicals and is a vocal anti-Gay Marriage campaigner. And he loves the Balls. It's beautiful.

Here he is in action with Richard Dawkins - a documentary called 'Root of all Evil' -

Just stunning stuff. I'm not sure I've ever come across a more unctuous, detestable character.

I gather there are in and around 30 million people in the 'flock' (is that right? about 10% of the entire US Population?), who hold 'Pastor Ted' in the highest esteem, buy into Pastor Ted's fire and brimstone ideaologies, his horrendous anti-Gay rhetoric. What goes through a diehard evangelical's mind when a paragon of their faith turns out to love the **** like a labrador loves a wet tennis ball?

An interesting article BTW...www.therevealer.org/archives/main_story_002694.php

Never mind. It just dawned on me who trefakio is. I suppose plagiarizing's okay if it's done by another Chewer as opposed to some guy.

He gets SO mad.

My favorite Right-wing columnist (and now blogger), Colson Crosslick, comments on the Haggard case:

http://godsrightarm.blogspot.com/

Hypocrite to Hell

If you need evidence that homosexuality is a dangerous and intoxicating drug look no further than the case of Pastor Ted Haggard of the New Life Church in Colorado. Haggard, a shining light of the evangelical movement, was seduced into a lifestyle of hot, sweaty gay sex by a very manly and muscled gay prosititute named Mike Jones.

Haggard, who is married with five children, let the excitement of sin get the better of him. He should have known better. Everyone knows that gay prosititutes cannot be trusted. They are fiendishly deceptive -- especially when you don't tip them (and Haggard was a notorious skinflint).

The reason Jones allegedly turned in Haggard was because of the pastor's passionate support for an amendment to the Colorado constitution to ban same sex marriage. "For someone who is up there preaching that marriage should only be between a man and a woman, and he's going behind his wife's back and seeing a gay man for sex -- I felt like I owed it to the gay community to expose the hypocrisy," Jones told CNN.

Did Pastor Haggard sin? Yes, of course. Does his homosexuality, drug abuse, lies and deception against his family and congregation, and enormous hypocrisy give the Christian Right a black-eye? Yes. But how much blame can we heap on the poor man?

Didn't he found an evangelical empire with more than 13,000 worshippers? Didn't he spread the word of Jesus around the globe? Wasn't he a close associate and advisor to President George W. George? Didn't he fight against the sin of homosexuality even though he is clearly gayer than Nathan Lane?

Doesn't that count for something?

Besides, who is the real hypocrite here? I'll argue that it's Mike Jones. Because isn't there an unwritten commitment between a repressed homosexual man and a gay prosititute to keep the act a secret? Didn't Mike Jones break that pact?

What kind of person is that? An evil one!

Turns out Haggard was smart to be opposed to the disease that nearly consumed him!

Maybe Crosslick has a non-disclosure agreement with his gay hooker and so he thought all the other religious hypocrits do as well.

Ted Haggard's last sermon...

Quote: This past Sunday, October 29, Ted Haggard gave what only God knew would be his last sermon from the pulpit of New Life Church as head pastor. It is a remarkable message given the week that would follow. (I will figure out a way to get the audio here but in the meanwhile, click the link, go to Sunday mornings and then to the 10/29 sermon by Pastor Haggard)

He began the sermon with a prayer that included these words:

“Heavenly Father give us grace and mercy, help us this next week and a half as we go into national elections and Lord we pray for our country. Father we pray lies would be exposed and deception exposed. Father we pray that wisdom would come upon our electorate…”

I wonder sometimes how many prayers we pray without ever thinking that God may answer them. Perhaps Pastor Haggard didn't realize what he was praying. Perhaps, however, the deepest part of his soul knew exactly what it was praying

I was tempted to try and pull out pieces of the message here but the more I listened the more I was struck by how much God was in his message that centered around the story of King Saul and themes of obedience.

Throughout the message you will hear pride and pleas and a political seduction that is breathtaking.

IOW, be careful what you wish for.

If this is the most mature title for this thread you can think of, you shouldn't be starting threads.
