Perhaps, you should focus more on facts than on winning an argument.

Quote: Even before the election was called, the Liberal government had racked up promises to expand both regular and reserve forces and to increase the military budget by $13 billion over the next five years.

In the course of the election campaign the Conservatives have promised to maintain the promises of the Liberals and add another $5.3 billion for military needs.

Notice that it says that the Conservatives promised to maintain the promises of the Liberals AND add $5.3 billion on top of it. That means they promised to maintain the $13 billion from 2005 and add $5.3 billion in totally new money. In contrast, the Liberals repackaged the $13 billion as "additional". However, it's the same $13 billion from before the election that the Conservatives said they would maintain, and you can verify this by reading what the "additional" $13 billion in the Liberal platform is for. It lists the same equipment that was already announced. It's not new money added on top of what was already announced before the election like the $5.3 billion from the Conservatives. Therefore, the Conservatives promised a total of about $18 billion, and the Liberals $13 billion. However, don't let any of that get in way of claiming victory in an argument.

Did you not argue for government control of the oil industry? Did you not argue for the government paying all the cost of childcare? Sounds kinda socialist to me.

On the other hand, the Harper government is not so on the ball, and certainly not honest with the people it claims to represent. This is but one example.
