Our debate teacher from a catholic school sometimes tells us about issues mainly in the form of frontline videos, but this time he showed us a trailer.

I have not actually seen the Documentary, but you can get a good Idea of the movie from the previews. Remember, this movie is only criticising people with similar beliefs to the crusaders, or jihadists. This is not criticiing all cristians or sunday schools. This is only crticising militant groups.
Now I am a Catholic, and I believe in the God who saved us from ourselves. However, I can see how a large segment of the population taught that they must do this or that or they will go to hell can be a very large social disorder. These people have obviously never read the bible, that has several books inside it describing what is wrong to total submitance to human authority, not God. These people are obviously trying to get power by making large ammount of people do everything they say by manipulation of the word of God. |

Regardless of what I feel about what they are doing, they have the right to do it. They are allowed to raise their kids in the religious preferences that they have, as distasteful as they may be to others. Some on this board object to the way I raise my children religously (namely, I make them go to Catholic Mass and Catholic CCD, and will until they are 18). I'm not going to be a hypocrite and denounce others. |

I am on the same page as you. With one exception. I get very upset and proactive so to speak lol when you get the following
The ***insert relgious faith here** are the devils spawn, eat babies, want world domination etc etc.
I expect respect for my faith (Also Catholic) And offer unconditional respect in return. I get into a lot less arguments that way lol |

Respect and tolerance are two different things. I don't respect satanists or pagans. However, I tolerate them and will never want to do anything that would outlaw them, and I will defend their right to believe what they want to believe. I also won't go out of my way to criticize them (except in private). |

It is ok to send your kids to sunday camp, but if they start saying anything about god's army or christian revolution, then it is safe to assume that they are trying to make your kids soldiers and are not trully learning about God. |

That is as much as anyone should ask. I also get annoyed when I hear "you MUST respect my religion." Umm...no. I will tolerate beliefs, and offer kindness to those of other faiths (unless their actions convince me otherwise). However, there are certain beliefs that I have absolutely no respect for. I know that, as a Pagan, I don't have respect from everyone (or even from most). That is fine. You don't have to respect my beliefs, so long as you don't go out of your way to ridicule them. |

I don't appreciate being lumped in with Satanists, but I suppose you are entitled to your contempt. |

| This is scary. What that camp is doing goes way beyond simply teaching kids about God. I went to a religious camp when I was a kid. That is, it was religious insofar as all the kids were the same religion, and we had sunday school. Aside from that, it was fundamentaly no different from any other summer camp. When I see a "religious" camp that has the kids putting on cammo-face paint, and wearing fatigues; that scares me. |

It's not my position to judge. We have freedom of religion and freedom of speech. As long as they aren't advocating a violent overthrow of the government, they can teach whatever they want. |

However, you do have the right to your beliefs, and the right to not respect mine. |

I'm agnostic, but I suppose we'll be roasted for our beliefs as well.
Ironic, isn't it?
PS. Edit to add::::: Just because a person doesn't have a religion, does not make them an atheist. :? |

I thought I remembered reading that grandmaster was atheist.
My views on agnostics are not too strong, but then again, agnostics viewpoints aren't too strong, IMHO. |

Just for the sake of curiosity, humor me. What do you think of atheists. Please understand, my feelings will not be hurt. (Not asking aggressively, just curious.) |

I think atheists are as religious as most theists. Their religion is that they vehemently believe that there can be no God. Most agnostics, I truly believe, have no religion.
I mainly wrote the original statement so you didn't feel excluded.....

Hmm...
Then it may be the case I would fit most specifically into the catagory of agnostic afterall.
While I don't necessarily proactively assert there can be no god, my deep skepticism makes me remain very unconvinced that there is in fact one. I have myself, wondered if that it atheism or agnosticism.
Nevertheless, I remain immune to attacks on my religion. |

PS. Edit to add::::: Just because a person doesn't have a religion, does not make them an atheist. :? Everyone has a belief on religion. Some subscribe to an organized religion, some are atheists, some are agnostic. Hell, some create their own (L Ron Hubbard anyone?)
So, we all have religious beliefs which can be insulted. |

| Those people are scary. Those poor kids. I went to a Christian school when I was a kid and regretted it ever since. But it was nothing on the scale of this. That is psychological child abuse IMO. |

I went to two religious schools when I was like 6 or 7 years old, but I had to leave them. I think it was because I seemed to be the cause of some trouble. |
