| it would be nice to think that the good primarily over shadows the bad in iraq, but i have a hard time beleiving it does. |

What else happens in Iraq
The Iraqi society as a whole is disintegrating with tensions at an all time high. While "98% of children being vaccinated against Polio" is certainly positive, it doesn't change the diasasterous political atmosphere of that country. |

I guess we could revert back to Saddam being control and no chance of the Iraqi's being able to do anything about it.
So what can we learn from this? If we want to keep Iraqi's in line we should evidently go back to Saddam's methods. If they speak out or don't follow our strict rules, they die no questions asked. If they don't agree with us, we execute them. If they try any political action against us, they die too. Basically if you don't follow our rules 100% we are going to kill you, that would keep the country in line as it did for Saddam.
People apparently don't strongly oppose the way Saddam treated the people of Iraq enough to actually do something about it and that kept secterian violence at a minimum. So why not follow his footsteps and take control of this country?

Saddam is history. It's over and done.

Saddam's methods did not create a working society. They just repressed the tensions and allowed perverts to do as they wish by abusing power. I don't believe those are the methods that are conducive to creating an actual state in Iraq. Iraq currently is disintegrating because these tensions are quickly escalating. The whole point of the US going in was to create a working society. If they resort to Saddam's methods, then I don't know what has changed in that society to be honest.
