| Seriously. Ayn Rand hated organized religion. Her original document for Atlas Shrugged involved a priest character as one of the societal leeches, and her philosophy, objectivism, favors atheism or agnosticism. Not only that, but for Christian conservatives, Ayn Rand was born a Jew. She wasn't a Christian at any point of her life. She also saw nothing morally improper about adultery. She was pro-choice. These values seem to be the opposite of what religious conservatives espouse. It just doesn't make any sense. Maybe I am missing something. Are there any self-identified religious conservative Ayn Rand fans out there who would like to set me straight? |

I'm religous and a conservative, and I have no idea why any religious people would admire Ayn Rand. |

| I support her views regarding Communism and Capitalism. I also support her belief that we are all responsible for ourselves and we are responsible to make our own decisions. In a way that can be tied to Christianity in that God all gave us free will and in the end we are all responsible for our own actions. I don't know how she believes all that she does but then hates religion but I'm completely against her views regarding religion. Does that clear it up? I think that's what many other Christians would say.... Not totally sure though |

| Ayn Rand's writing was never violently or passionatly anti-religious, her philosophy is just above religion. |

According to her philosophy, objectivism, religion is collectivist, and therefore evil. How is that not anti-religious? I mean, she wasn't advocating burning religious people alive or anything, but she considered ANY collective to be evil and flawed, whether that collectivist viewpoint was socialism or religion. She was also opposed to most forms of charity and mercy. I'm not a Christian, so maybe I'm wrong here, but Christianity says that "the meek shall inherit the Earth," right? The very idea would have made Ayn Rand sneer.

| Ayn Rand doesn't hate anything, she simply holds true to Libertarian Philosophy that the individual comes before all. Basically Ayn Rand contradicts the beliefs of the Church, but to my knowledge never directly attacks it. |

I think you are mixing CONSERVATIVE with Religious.
Ayn Rand from a religious Christian point of view deserved no respect or admiration, from a conservative point of view she made many points. |

Perfectly said, just what I was trying to get at, but you did it much better, in fewer words! |

Noone should start listening to that woman. Of course a Christian would say something like that. I myself am a Roman Catholic brother, but there's no reason to dislike someone just because they are more individualistic than the regular person. I agree that Ayn Rands philosophies are both selfish and heretical, but certainly make more sense then say.. "Communism". |

That is exactly why I said dont "listen" to her. I never said stop loving her. It is her IDEAS which are dangerous. |

I don't think that her books should just be avoided though. I myself am a Christian and while I disagree with her religious views I like her economic principles. I think someone could read these books and make logical evaluations of the book. |

| I think conservatives are better able to handle dissent than Liberals. I notice they seem far less concerned about people disagreeing with them and are often better able to recognize that someone may be quite worthwhile in some respects while disagreeing with them completely on other things. |

Then explain the cries of treason.
