In any case it makes them empolyed by the government... and since public schools are tax and thus government funded... My arguement stands...
govt employees do not have absolute constitutional rights either...they have abide by whatever standards that are in place.... A National Security employee does not have the freedom of speech...what he can say is limited....A serviceman has the UCMJ which replaces the constitution for what deem their rights....
what you don't know about the constitution and limits placed on people because of employment, whether private or public is amazing....
And yet she recieved A's in her civics classes. I think you make her point for her. |

Then why not start by researching the issues involved--i.e. the limitations of constitutional rights of public school students. It's easily found educational law. You can start with the ACLU website.
Also, no offense, but I view someone with a GED as a loser--it indicates that you don't have the follow through or work ethic to get a high school diploma (I wouldn't brag about it). In my state, FL, the GED is so much simpler than the graduation test, so that people who fail the grad test just go ahead and take the GED instead.

I am not content to let it reach a Point where the next generations are surpressed and brain washed by Teacher's personal views and administrators thinking they acomplished somethign in their life because they made it to a piss-ad office. But they get a comfertable chair.
With your low level of argument and grammar, you should go back to high school.

Well, research and learn a bit more before you pontificate on things you have little knowledge about.
There are two kinds of people with GED's. those who go on to work, those are the losers, and those who go on to college. I have known a fair amount of very bright people who felt school was a waste of time, and ti was for them, they went on to college after attaining a GED rather than wasting there time. A GED by itself is worse than a highschool diploma, but it can also be the key to a College Diploma, and in that case it is quite valuable indeed. |

Not true. It is very easy to coast by, put in minimal effort, and make B's. At least it is for the bright. The school's don't need to pander, they just let people fail upwards in many cases. |

why in public schools are we not granted the public rights suposably garanteed by the Consitution of the United states?
Welcome.
I don't mean this to sound condescending, but I think a lot has to do with your age.
When you get to college and can wear anything you want, and when you get out of college - and get to wear anything you want - you will see that its an unimportant issue.
Sure, freedom of speech is important, and guess what: you can do it almost everywhere. Just beacuse you can't do it in a place where teachers are struggling just to keep order, let alone, teach something, is a minor issue.
High school is a place for learning, yes, but learning a certain curiculum, not how to express your passionate belief of the moment.
Wear your pentagram, or cross, now proudly. You are 18 and probably graduated from what most people consider the worst time of their life.
It is a Rite of Passage. It's great that you got through it by thinking deeply about some things, but keep it in perspective. Would things have changed had you been able to wear your symbol? How?
I'm all for self-expression, and disagree with the idea that people should be censored, but I also know the harsh reality that teachers experience. If they feel this helps them keep the focus on the lesson, then, I'd have to take their word for it unless someone can show otherwise. |

As a former a school board member...I can say simply that the public school is responsible for all children attending the schools and in that responsibility, comes rules and limits. What is done in the school, at school functions, and on school grounds falls under that responsibility that is granted by the voters and the taxpayers of that school district. The citizens are in charge of that citizens include the citizens who are being educated. |
