| Could someone explain to me why the United States still supports Taiwan? Why is it our businesss, and why would we enter into a war with the most populous country in the world over the island? I could have understood the communism argument 20 years ago, but please provide other reasons. |

Your former president Trumen( I am not quite sure) made a treaty to bundle Taiwan's fate with your own fate.
I guess he wanted to draw a line, telling the CCP not to step outside it into Pacific. Pacific belongs to your country. |

why can we learn that president is a corrupt guy ?because Taiwan has press freedom ,sharply in contrast to mainland china where corruption are prevalent among top leaders but ordinary citizens know nothing about that ,for all the media resource is monopolized by government |

Because Taiwan (republic of china )is a party of free world ,just like former western Germany and south korea ,protecting them is to protect you own value ,(also china will protect north korea for it’s communist nation either and share some ideologies with china) and weaken the influence of communist china in pacific area ,that is USA national strategy . |

Which at the moment as it has always been is all that is required. At the present day China cannot succesfully mount an invasion of Taiwan. They can bomb it, they can launch missiles, but they cannot bring enough troops for an invasion across the straits. |

Taiwan is not western Germany and south korea,it has been a part of China before Ming dynasty.
I don't know what's the meaning about the "free world" you mentioned.
I think my country is also a part of the free world.I dont think the communist equals "no freedom" and the capitalism equals "free world"
There is no absolute freedom in any country.
The opinion that "protecting them is to protect you own value" is a totally cold war thinking.I think most of American people and Chinese just care about how they can live better but not the political ideology. |

I can answer that. The US is completely inept when it comes to diplomacy. |

Of course I know Taiwan has been a part of china before ming dynasty.,but you mislead my meaning ,Taiwan is a part of china, but not a part of PRC. In fact ,Taiwan is a province of ROC,not PRC.There is only one china ,one legitimate Chinese authority in the world ,ROC.
People republic of china is a regime that has no legitimacy, and mainland is independent from ROC in 1949. |

That's because you are crazy about the Taiwan's independence ,and you are a f***ing motherf****r you bastard!!!!!!! In fact , I am unity advocator ,I sincerely wish china can re-unite one day(Not only Taiwan but Mongolia ). But the premise should be a free market economy ,free and democratic society ,allow multiparty system. Not communist! Communist or “one country two system” is a calamity to Taiwan(example :hong kong,do you know 23 the legislation disturbance and July 23 ,2003 demonstration ?) And also leader of KMT Ma Yingjiu said :“if CCP deny to redress July 4th Tiananmen incident ,(六 四不平反,统一不能谈)there is no possibility to unite ”when he accepted VOA interview after be elected as president of KMT.
I can understand his concern ,if a party can use tanks ,machine guns and ak-47 auto rifles slaughter its own people only in Beijing only because students want to end corruption in 1989 ,how can we prevent it from killing Taiwanese when they demand more freedom and democracy ? |

I'm sorry the most of countries in the world don't think that, they agree with this parlance:PRC is the only legitimate government in China, and the Taiwan is a part of China(PRC) |

The only coherent argument I have heard here so far is that it is in the US economic interest to maintain a free Taiwan. I wonder why, if we get cheap stuff from China, why not get stuff from both places under one roof?
The only argument I can think of is that it is in the US interest to support ANY democracy against tyrannical forces. Hence, our special relationship with Israel and Taiwan. |
