You are predicating this whole thing on the misconceived notion that circumcisions are ONLY done by religious people. |

| No, under any circumstances. Circumcision is for reproductive health what herion was as a cough medicine, most americans are circumcised and I can see why defending it would act as a form of self-reassurance, but the truth is circumcision debilitates sexual and health function. |

It was in reference to the "pro-circumcision" comment, because often times people make "pro-abortion" comments; but those people are idiots, and you're not an idiot, right?

The symbol is between the individual and God, much like circumcision.
Unless you go around searching for circumcised individuals, I fail to see how the physical mark is a reason for argument. |

What about those of us who will circumcise their sons, but not for religious reasons?
My religion has no stand for or against circumcision...but, I'll still circumcise my sons.
Exactly, only about 1% of the circumcisions in the U.S. are for religious reasons. |

How come people don't rip out kids teeth to prevent cavities?
I say you wait until he's old enough to understand what the procedure is, and let him decide for himself
hyperbole. and a stupid one at that.
and i'm happy i was circumcised before i could feel, remember, and understand the pain. and i really am happy i don't need to spend an extra five minutes scrubbing my junk to make sure it doesn't smell like a landfill.
5 mins? hah! it just takes a few seconds.... |

| Utterly amazed that something so common and accepted has gotten 13 pages. I have a lot of baggage in my life but I doubt any of it is from being circumcised. I have two kids and the plumbing still works whenever I want it to. I don't think that it has caused any dysfunction. |

It's not very common in Europe. Boys who are circumcised most probably get teased in Sweden. |

In public schools there's public showers. In Sweden we have something called "physical education", have you ever heard of that? |

Many Americans use the opposite as a reason to circumcise boys.
00timh also said that it's commonly accepted. It's not in Sweden. A lot of people think it's barbaric and unnecessary. |

If people want to use commonality as a reason, it should be commonality of the society in which they live. Therefore, how common it is in Sweden its a pointless point if talking about Americans circumcising their sons. |

I remember being in middle school and high school, in P.E. class, when the boys would all have to shower afterward. Sure, there were a few guys who weren't circumcised (and all boys check each other out, even if they don't admit it). But, I don't ever remember an uncircumcised boy being teased. No one cared one way or another. |

I do though, why can't you alow the boy in question to wait until he's like 12 years old and decide for himself? |
