|
|
I believe it was on October 7th that I experienced trouble logging in because I could not find my password. I immediately clicked on the 'I forgot my password' link and submitted my nickname and email address. The site answered me by telling me that a new password has been sent to your email address and to check it--it never got there! I performed this same exercise repeatedly for several days to no avail on a new password! So I have not been able to use this forum for a little over two weeks now!
I finally found my password today and was able to log in. Why didn't the site send me a new password during those times of difficulty?
Also, I still have been not receiving email notifications for topics that I wish to be notified about when there is a reply. And I have talked to David (Moderator) about this specific problem in the past, too. He thought that it might be an issue with the software.
Is there someone I should be contacting about these issues? :? Robert. |

Have you checked your e-mail addy listed under your profile?
That may have been changed or deleted somehow (?)
Either way I would simply UPDATE the e-mail addy in your profile.
Good to have you back ! |

Good to have you back ! Good idea to check that, Richard. It is still there, so that can't be the problem. Thanks anyway. And it is good to be back. |

Donkeykick, I have been having this problem for months. I don't know WHAT has happened, but when I first started coming here, I had no problems receiving email notifications. Then the site acted up for a few days, and then voila - no more notifications.
I have been here several times, and no one seems to know the problem. I just came in here again, to possibly start another thread on the same subject. I don't know where else to look. I have gone so far as to start a completely new email account, to see if it is a problem with a corrupt email address, but that didn't help either.
David told me it was probably something on my end, but I also post at IMDB.com, and I receive email notifications from them all the time.
It's frustrating, but I promise that you and I are not the only ones with the problem. Several people have mentioned the very same problem.

But I'm with you--I belong to other phpBB Boards, and I receive email notifications of posting replies and PMs in those alright; it's only here where I run into trouble. :? |

6:25PM through 6:33PM ET USA
- Attempted posting a reply, 4 failures. Page was supposedly being updated with my post, however, it timed out to a blank page 3 times and Faster Fox extension timed it at 120 seconds to the longest 144 seconds.
The 4th time I recieved a Critical Php error - "Could not connect to the database"
This has happened to me at least 3 times in the last week where posts just take forever or fail, then eventually I get the Php error.
I was able to load other pages during these timeouts and problem times. I also pinged the PCF server and had no issues. My tracert test was also normal and I was able to validate my end-to-end connection from my PC to the internet was acting normally.
These pings were taken between 6:25 and 6:30 PM ET.
