This is interesting. http://www.whitehouse.gov/nsc/nsct/2006/sectionV.html
Quote: The terrorism we confront today springs from:
Subcultures of conspiracy and misinformation. Terrorists recruit more effectively from populations whose information about the world is contaminated by falsehoods and corrupted by conspiracy theories. The distortions keep alive grievances and filter out facts that would challenge popular prejudices and self-serving propaganda.
Do you realize that anyone who believes differently then what the Government is telling them is aiding the terrorist,by the governments definition, and therefore can be deemed an enemy combatant.Every American should be concerned about this.Even the ones "working" for Centcom.Centcom has announced that they have recruited people to go on blogs and whatnot to basically repeat whatever the Government is saying, you know about it,right patriot911?
This is interesting as well.
Quote: Democracy is the antithesis of terrorist tyranny, which is why the terrorists denounce it and are willing to kill the innocent to stop it. Democracy is based on empowerment, while the terrorists’ ideology is based on enslavement. Democracies expand the freedom of their citizens, while the terrorists seek to impose a single set of narrow beliefs. Democracy sees individuals as equal in worth and dignity, having an inherent potential to create, govern themselves, and exercise basic freedoms of speech and conscience. The terrorists see individuals as objects to be exploited, and then to be ruled and oppressed.
Amazing. They actually have the balls to say this when they are doing the exact opposite.
This isn't a conspiracy theory,this is fact now. |

This isn't a conspiracy theory, this is fact now.
Except that once again you contaminate the truth by reading in things that are not said and are not meant. Sorry, but I don't buy your interpretation of what was said.
Lets look at what the government says:
Terrorists are able to recruit more terrorists where there is a lot of misinformation and conspiracy theories floating around.
Is this or is this not a true statement? I believe it IS a true statement.
But you go on to say anyone who misinforms someone or believes a conspiracy theory automatically is designated as a terrorist aide by the government. The only problem is that the government does not say this. It is your INTERPRETATION, and a pretty crappy one at that.
Just another example of your paranoid delusions in thinking that the government is after you and everyone else who believes in conspiracy theories. Can't say I am surprised. Seen any black helicopters lately? ;-)
As for Centcom, yes I am aware of what is going on.
http://www.defenselink.mil/news/Mar2006/20060302_4370.html
Of course, Centcom contacting bloggers to give them links to more complete information isn't exactly what you are accusing them of, but what the heck. You've been wrong on almost everything else, you might as well lie about Centcom as well.
And last but not least, you accuse the Bush administration of restricting the first amendment rights of citizens. Just goes to show just how much of the koolaid you've actually drank. Why is it you're not arrested and in Guantanamo right now? You've made the claim and fit the description as someone who peddles misinformation and conspiracy theories. Why are you still here? This just proves you don't even believe your own bullsh!t. If you DID actually believe your own BS, you wouldn't be sitting behind your keyboard saying things you know would get you arrested. ;-)
What you write isn't fact now or ever. It is all just made up tripe from a demented, paranoid mind |

You would have right to worry if what you found were part of a law. Since it is only a paragraph on a web site with no law binding it, you're safe from the boogey men at the government.
If you don't let fear into your life, why do you preach fear? You try and tell us the government is out to get us without any real proof other than a paragraph on a web site. Most people would call that fearmongering.

| Although I disagree that conspiracy theorists are a genuine threat to the United States, you guys sure can be a pain in the azs sometimes :P Plus I have to disagree with terrorists 'recruiting' conspiracy theorists, their muslim pride prohibits this. They can't work with infadels because it goes against their jihad against the infadels. |

You still need work on your "quoting" abilities.
So why is it you can't provide any proof of what you are claiming? Show me a conspiracy theorist who has been declared an enemy combatant. You make all these claims against the government but can't prove a single thing. Why? Because you have to spin the hell out of whatever you find and then hope nobody notices that what you say and what you use for a source are two completely different things.
You go right ahead and continue your fearmongering against the government. There is always a small percentage of the population that will disregard reality and believe your tripe, so I am sure that will make you happy. The rest of us will go on watching the government but refuse to play chicken little about the big bad gubment. ;-) |

The White House has made it perfectly clear that it will target American citizens for propagating information harmful to the interests of the U.S. government and classify them as enemy combatants. This is codified in sub-section 27 of section 950v. of the Military Commissions Act of 2006
"Any person subject to this chapter who with intent or reason to believe that it is to be used to the injury of the United States or to the advantage of a foreign power, collects or attempts to collect information by clandestine means or while acting under false pretenses, for the purpose of conveying such information to an enemy of the United States, or one of the co-belligerents of the enemy, shall be punished by death or such other punishment as a military commission under this chapter may direct."
Subsection 4(b) (26) of section 950v. of HR 6166 - Crimes triable by military commissions - includes the following definition.
"Any person subject to this chapter who, in breach of an allegiance or duty to the United States, knowingly and intentionally aids an enemy of the United States, or one of the co-belligerents of the enemy, shall be punished as a military commission under this chapter may direct."
For an individual to hold an allegiance or duty to the United States they need to be a citizen of the United States. Why would a foreign terrorist have any allegiance to the United States to breach in the first place?
This is another telltale facet that proves the bill applies to U.S. citizens and includes them under the "enemy combatant" designation.

That "website" does happen to be the website for the enforcement branch of our government. Their perceptions have a tad more impact on us than simply "a paragraph on a web site". Especially now with vague laws being pushed that we shouldn't be concerned about since good judgement will ensure that only the bad guys are targeted.
I know that if I was looking at my local police station's website and found "Being or associating with Hispanics causes criminal behavior." I would damn well be worried about the implications.
Am I concerned about the government raiding the conspiracy theorists and labeling them as terrorists? Not likely to happen soon. Setting the presidence however, may enable future government to sieze upon a very idiotic interpretation of law. |

Sure. It means any American citizen that aids terrorists will be subject to these laws. That is not only clear, but IMHO a good law.
Where your theory completely falls apart is where you assume conspiracy theorists fall under the catagory of a spy. Where do conspiracy nuts such as yourself collect information for terrorists? Where do you knowingly and intentionally aid an enemy of the United States? While I think your theories are seriously fscked up and you are a detriment to the country, I don't believe you are intentionally helping Al Qaeda even though you are trying your hardest to get them off the hook and blame the government instead. It is all about intent. Is it your intent to help Al Qaeda? I don't think so. Is it your intent to try and harm the US government? Yes.
By the way.... this isn't a new crime. It is commonly known as treason. It is very well defined and this law adds nothing to that definition. Also, you cannot convict or charge a non-citizen with treason as they are not a citizen and thus owe no alliegence. That is why you look like such a fool for trying to imply everyone else thinks these laws are not for US citizens but for the foreign terrorists. |

We agree. When you find Mighty Oak's quote in a law instead of on a web site, then I would be concerned. As it stands, the quote from the web site has as much chance of getting a conspiracy theorist arrested as Mighty Oak has of proving the government was behind 9/11. ;-) |

Here is where we have a different set of opinions. You want to "save America" by destorying the government. I consider this harmful to America. We're free to each have our own opinions.
And your rear end has indeed been handed to you. On a silver platter no less. You've failed miserably at proving the government is going to go after conspiracy theorists as it now (according to your assertion) considers conspiracy theorists unlawful combatants. You've waffled and tried to weasle your way out of your assertion by showing laws against treason, but have failed to show ANY definition by the government that would label promoting a conspiracy theory either treason or as reason to be labeled an unlawful combatant.
Tell me, Mighty Oak. What is your definition of getting your rear end handed to you? Your initial claim has been found to be a false claim and your pathetic efforts to back up your claim have fallen far short of even beginning to support your claim. I would consider that a failure, but obviously you have a different definition of what failure is and what constitutes "getting your rear end handed to you". Please enlighten us. |

Subsection 4(b) (26) of section 950v. of HR 6166 - Crimes triable by military commissions - includes the following definition. This is written for defectors and spies, i.e. A citizen, or military personnel of the United States that works for the enemy, and gives the enemy intel, or any kind of aid that could damage the States and, in effect, cost American lives. Most countries have a similar policy.
Quote: "Any person subject to this chapter who, in breach of an allegiance or duty to the United States, knowingly and intentionally aids an enemy of the United States, or one of the co-belligerents of the enemy, shall be punished as a military commission under this chapter may direct."
For an individual to hold an allegiance or duty to the United States they need to be a citizen of the United States. Why would a foreign terrorist have any allegiance to the United States to breach in the first place? Again, this applies to citizens of the United States who are defectors, or help the enemy. This is not a new concept, in fact, unless this is a current revision, this has been in effect since 1776. Don't worry, if you were considered a threat, you'd be in 'Gitmo" by now. You aren't giving aid to the enemy by typing your beliefs on an internet website. The only way you'd be eligible for prosecution is if you knowingly helped a person, or people, who intended to attack the American people, and their intent to do so was clear to you. |

This quote right here states clearly what they mean,"The terrorism we confront today springs from:
Subcultures of conspiracy and misinformation. Terrorists recruit more effectively from populations whose information about the world is contaminated by falsehoods and corrupted by conspiracy theories. The distortions keep alive grievances and filter out facts that would challenge popular prejudices and self-serving propaganda"
So from this "web site",that just so happens to be the Governments,as was so eloquently pointed out to all by Medius, states that conspiracy theories DO help the terrorist by helping them recruit more effectively. Now I don't believe this but this is what the Government is saying. Please show me where I am wrong here.
Kamel,I understand what you are saying, though I disagree b/c our Government has made it perfectly clear that they are the ones to interpret the law. |

See, this is where you have selective reading abilities and it gets you in trouble.
Your little quote says nothing directly about conspiracy theorists at all, nor does it label them as bad. Read what the government wrote again, and this time do a rectal/cranial inversion beforehand.
The government is talking about terrorists being able to recruit best from populations who have a distorted view of the world through lies and conspiracy theories. Is this a true statement? I have no reason to believe otherwise. Does the government say ANYTHING about conspiracy theorists being bad? No. Does it say anything about conspiracy theorists in general? No. The government is specifically talking about areas of the world where terrorists recruit from where the average citizen has no means of discerning between conspiracy theories and the truth. Think they are talking about some pothead's house where him and his buddies get together to dream up conspiracy theories? No. Think the government is talking about all conspiracy theories? Think the terrorists care who killed JFK?
So let me state this for you again. You've taken this quote out of context and put so much spin on it that the original author of the quote wouldn't recognize it and would probably laugh in your face if you tried to tell him or her what you think they were really trying to say.
OK, one more question for you. How do your conspiracy theories help the terrorists? Sure you say the government is bad and evil and all that, but so what? You don't give any terrorist except maybe a home grown one reason to go after the government. You spin lies about the government (as proven by your inability to back up your claims) that might make some Tim McVeigh type want to blow up a building somewhere if they actually believed what you wrote, but that isn't a crime. It isn't a crime in the quote you gave us from the government web site and it isn't a crime according to the laws you tried to say show that it is a crime.
The conspiracy theories the government is talking about are the conspiracy theories like you find in the middle east. Theories like Jews holding satanic rites where they drink the blood of babies. Theories like the US is out to destroy Islam. THESE are the kinds of conspiracy theories that help terrorists recruit new members.
If anything, your conspiracy theories are hurting terrorists' recruiting campaigns.
Mohamed: Come join Al Qaeda and help us fight the great Satan! We blew up the WTC and crashed into the Pentagon!
Abdul: Thats not what I read. I heard the US government did it and blamed you guys.
Mohamed: No, seriously! We did it! We did it in the name of Allah!
Abdul: No, Silverstein did it. He admitted it. Alex Jones said so.
Mohamed: Why would we lie? We lost our base of operations in Afghanistan and are living in caves! We did it! Who are you going to believe? A fellow Muslim or some lying American who never gets anything right?
Abdul: Then how did you get NORAD to stand down?
Mohamed: Oh forget it. You will believe ANYTHING those conspiracy sites tell you. |

Do you work for Centcom?Cause you sure do want me to believe YOUR interpretation.Where does it say it's for Middle East conspiracies? The definition of population could very well mean the conspiracy crowd, right? You accuse me of misrepresenting this when in fact it is you who is misrepresenting this and putting more into it then it actually says. |
