Firstly, I am new here, so I have to ask-you guys are arguing just to argue (sparring), right? If not, wow. I assume that the moderator "John Galt" is kidding about satan and animals and gay people. This seems to be a great site and I am new, so I may be violating TOS by asking that question in the first place...
As a non-recruiting, non-PDA exhibiting survivor of a pretty brutal gay bashing (I was with my mother in a movie theater), I have to say, some folks (probably out of inner fear of a latent tendency towards homosexual acts) are really homophobic. I also believe that some people are just plain mean. Regardless, one's sexuality is no one's business but their own. Unless, of course, you are a bird or a bee, then it's big news.
+p
By the way, I have found that when the guys shouting "God hates f@gs" are attending a gay event, it's best to go up to them in a group of two or more and shout in your loudest voice: "You are Satan. I see Satan. Satan is right here." And then point at them. They run away scared, as hatemongers always do. It's pretty fun to watch. Take good care.
:-D

:-D Truthsayer...

First, welcome to PCF :-) Hope you enjoy your stay.

Second, you are right that there is a lot of arguing that goes on here for the sake of arguing. Debate, or sparring as you put it, is a great exercise and we sure do enjoy doing it. :-)

If you don't mind me asking, what was the experience you had when you were out with your mother? I was in a theatre once with my boyfriend and, in the middle of the movie, I reached over and held his hand. I was surprised when just a few minutes later we had popcorn, empty candy boxes, and a full soda thrown at us. The soda hit my boyfriend in the back of the head and spilled all over us.

I complained to the manager, and the a$$holes were thrown out. However, when we left the theatre an hour later, they were waiting outside and continued throwing things at us as we walked to my car. Luckily, this movie theatre is in a mall that is continually patrolled by police and there was a cop there who watched the whole thing and stopped all of us. My boyfriend and I told our story, while the others muttered about the "f*cking f*gs" and how WE should be arrested. Nope...we weren't. But, I think they were.

Just saw this-
Thanks for the reply, Enoch!
My partner, mother and I were at the theater. My partner and I didn't even hold hands, but the two 35 year old "cop" looking guys behind us starting kicking our seats, talking loudly about violence towards women, and flicking candy at us. Ten minutes earlier, I watched as the bigger of the two guys pushed a disabled kid from my neighborhood and told him he would "beat him up for being a (p*ssy) if he kept making those sounds." *The kid makes uncontrollable small sounds occasionally, which, although possibly annoying to those without patience, would not interrupt a movie in a theater.
I stated in a low voice, "It takes a big man to beat up on a handicapped kid."
So, I guess I asked for it. <-- *Just kidding.*
After about 10 minutes of these guys harrassing us from the row behind us, I got up to get a manager.
My right shoulder was broken and I was being dragged out the back door of the theater before I could even yell for help. He hit me in the side of the head, the kidneys, the pelvic area, and used my breasts to hold onto while he was beating me. My mom saved me, beat the guy with her purse til he let me go. It was a terrifying experience and left me in bed for 12 weeks, broken shoulder and all.
Thanks for the warm welcome,
Truth

As far as arguing for the fun of it goes, I get it, it can be funny. *And often entertains me to do so!

Indeed. The very reason I joined this site was to argue. For me, it is like a game. I argue for sport. So yes, some people on here argue just to argue.
