An absentee landlord. Unless you believe the Lord Jebus Christ is your Lord and Savior, Amen.

I was just referring the fact that the universe is so freaking old and it seems like cosmic stuff happens all the time that just wipes out entire populations of organisms.

If you're an atheistic evolutionist, I suppose it doesn't matter which
specie is more important. After all, it is all just a shuffling of matter.
Otherwise you have the "survival of the fittest" group who say,"Forget
the other animals. We're top dog. We have control." While there will be
the eccentric group (that sees man as one in a brotherhood of animals)
that will say, "But, the PUPPIES!! Wont SOMEONE please think of the
PUPPIES!?!?!"

On the other hand, if one has spiritual beliefes, he either worships
nature or subdues it to his use. Leaving the groups of nature worshipers
(Hindus, Panthiests, Druids) and subdoers (Christians, Jews).

Who is right?

If there is no God, then no one. If there is God, then which is respected?

That's nihilism, not atheism or "evolutionism".

How does natural selection lead to human beings being "top dog"?

Does anyone think a spectrum for environmentalism is due to be created here?

Possibly a 2-D spectrum?
