Kentucky National Guard - 232 Pictures sent to a Louisville Paper
So, what little soldier in me says: "So where's the pictures?" and the civilian in me says, "So where's the pictures?"
Is that wrong? Probably in one case it is, in another case, it would actually be looked at as a morale booster to the men serving currently. Let me put it this way, I would certainly be conflicted (yet more than a little interested) to see the women of the Kentucky National Guard in their BVD's, with an M16/M203, suggestively posed.
So do you personally see anything wrong in this? Certainly it crosses the line in the UMCJ's eyes, but hell, the young men in different outfits would trade these like 1930's baseball cards! Is it against the law if a young, attractive 1st or 2nd Lt. wants to strip, and show the boys "in country" a reminder for what they're really fighting for?
I can remember not too long ago, these types of pictures used to be painted on Aircraft as a motivatinal factor to finish a war and to get back home. I mean, they weren't called "baby boomers" for nothing. So shouldn't these ladies be allowed to show a little skin and blow off some steam??? |

| Have to vote no. Those motivational pictures painted on aircraft were of the girls (and dream/fantasy girls) back home. Civilians. Not fellow soldiers. Sexualizing female soldiers is a step backward, don't you think? |

Why is sexualising female soldiers a backwards step? |

I second this. I care so little about things like this happening that I'm not reading anything else in this thread. |

I do. And I think it cheapens and diminishes the service of the many women in uniform who aren't taking it off. |

Well, in a more mature way of thinking (as in the "here and now") I would agree, that sexualizing female soldiers does no good to the military. As me that when I was IN the military, (18-22 years of age) and I think there would have been a different answer.
What this does show to me is that there's a breakdown in the military that soldiers of any kind, would do something like this. I mean, it's one thing when you're a civilian - but when you're representing something bigger than just yourself (say, you're country) it could be damaging.
However, I'm still a guy (ie. men are pigs) and I'd still like to view the photos ... if for nothing else, than to view for myself the depts of malformity, some have sunk.
*ahem*

Personally I am 100% against it in that the ladies in the military are already having enough problem trying to get equality as is.
I would say that it is demeaning to the women to do this and it should not be allowed. At least punishable by article 15, and if need be field grade disciplinary action. |

Holy s**t I think you're onto something. My dad is a republican, therefore all men are republicans. My computer has Logitec speakers, therefore no other type of speakers exist. My mom's car is made by Dodge, therefore there are no other car companies.
It's all so clear now... |

Dear boy, you have clarified this issue in a way you're too callow to even appreciate. I thank you anyway. |

All Soldiers are fighting for their Mothers; so no soldier should do anything that their mother would dissapprove of-soldiers of all countries have a big rulebook (that is called different names), but that is what each boils down to.
there are some pretty soldiers, though....

Hey we are fighting for freedom and beauty and the american way, and nekkid GI Janes are a fabulous example of all that. Also, its the number one thing to sell people on the American way of life. I still remember the reaction of one Iraqi street vendor when we first took over. It was something like "America money, America Sexy. Good, Good."
Seriously, I doubt that so many Muslims would be so uptight if they could look at a playboy or go to a strip club now and then. |

| Bad for discipline. Once out of the military, do whatever you want, but while in, you should conduct yourself decorously. |

I second this. Doing it shows a lack of discipline and pride in the service, and also results in bad PR for the service. While in, you are not free to whatever it is that you wish; everyone with half a brain knows this when they sign the papers or accept their commission or appointment. Morals and discipline are essential in the armed forces. |

Those kinds of pictures within the military are different than from idealized images of others. I think it's wrong, because it cannot possibly help anything, and will probably distract the female soldiers from being taken seriously. It's especially wrong for an officer to participate in. |

| Very interesting thread. I eagerly clicked on the thread and must admit was sorely disappointed by the absence of pics. That said, however - I voted 'no' on grounds of poor for discipline - especially if dealing with officers. |
