I would disagree that it's easier to kill someone with a gun rather than a knife..from a tactical standpoint, a gun only works in one dimension..from the muzzle outward. It's not as easy to aim as people think it is from watching the movies. A knife works in many directions, at least three, sometimes four (if the knife is double-edged)- and that's not including every angle therein. You have to know how to use it, but a knife has its advantages, definitely.

Your government is structured differently than ours, however I do believe an american revolution is still a possibility..no matter what kind of hardware is available to the military. Ironic that you should say "branded as terrorists" as that exact word will be used in the future to describe anyone the government doesn't like.

If that was true, the government would simply hand out bayonets to all the soldiers and send them to Iraq without having to fork out for guns. Trust me, our government is that tight when it comes to defence spending.
Killing with a knife takes more skill and will. A nervous mugger can't 'accidently' stab someone in the same way he can pull the trigger of a gun.
There are some ways when a knife might by prefarable to a gun when you're trying to kill someone, but unless you're a trained killer in the SAS or Delta Force or something, this isn't really an issue. It's a bit silly, so let us just say that generally speaking, guns are way more lethal than knives.....

The last time the citizens rose up against a 'tyranical' government in the 1860s, the rebels were widespread and strong in number. Nevertheless, they were defeated, and the technology gap between citizens and the military is even greater now.
It's a good job we managed to achieve liberty and freedom under the rule of law before now, because if we still lived under a system of absolute monarchy, we would be screwed.....
